Filmmaking is filmmaking. No matter the medium, and Animation is a language whose principles surely trespass all kinds of techniques. I strongly believe that. Whether it's live-action or animation, the core principles of storytelling remain universal. From traditional hand-drawn frames to cutting-edge CGI, the essence of compelling storytelling, character development, and emotional resonance is the same.
It's been a goal of mine for a while to open up for directing other types of animation such as stop-motion or 3D. Filmmaking is filmmaking, no matter the medium; and Animation is a language whose principles surely trespass all kinds of techniques! I'm so glad my mates at Pixel trusted me from the other side of the globe to direct this one! Huge shout out to Fernanda Ribeiro and her unique style, and Jordan Booker for being the best 3D Swiss army knife one could ask for! Stay tuned for some behind-the-scenes! #animation #motiongraphics #mograph #motion #2d #3d #direction #animationdirection #cartoon #henriquebarone

Great post, Lino! This is great advice for anyone. Even when we're employed, it's crucial to still carve regular time to cultivate personal projects: the ones you want to show the world, free of a limiting brief or NDA. Then, magic can happen!

Use your downtime wisely—this is crucial. The industry is in a transitional phase right now, but I'm confident that in the next few years, it will be thriving again. Animation has always been one of the most powerful mediums for storytelling, and it always will be. So, take this time to invest in yourself. Animate that shot you've always dreamed of, but never got the chance to work on. Direct the scene you've envisioned for so long. Write the short film that's been on your mind but never fit into your schedule. Sculpt that character that will captivate everyone's attention. Storyboard the moment that keeps playing in your head. Show the world what you've got—because the world needs to see it. #Animation #Artist #filmmakers

This message really hits home for me. The animation industry, like many others, is in a state of flux right now. But I truly believe that this is when creativity and innovation can shine the brightest. This is our chance to push boundaries and create work that reflects our true passion. Whether it’s animating, directing, writing, sculpting, or storyboarding—these are the creative efforts that will shape the future of our industry. Let’s take this time to sharpen our skills, tell our stories, and get ready for the comeback that’s on the horizon. Here are a few ways to get the ball rolling on sharpening your skill set: 1. Set Specific Goals: Instead of vaguely wanting to “get better,” define what “better” looks like for you. Having clear goals will help you stay focused and motivated. 2. Break It Down: Large projects can be overwhelming, so break them into smaller, manageable tasks. 3. Seek Feedback: Don’t hesitate to share your work-in-progress with peers or mentors. Constructive criticism is invaluable for growth. Online forums, LinkedIn groups, and even virtual meetups can be great places to get insights from others in the industry. 4. Learn Something New: Take advantage of the wealth of online resources available. Whether it’s a new software tool, a technique, or a different storytelling approach, expanding your skill set can give you an edge. YouTube offer countless tutorials tailored to all levels of expertise. 5. Collaborate: Consider teaming up with others on a small project. Collaboration not only sharpens your skills but also broadens your network and gives you fresh perspectives on your work. 6. Stay Inspired: Inspiration can come from anywhere—films, books, nature, or even a conversation. Keep a journal or a digital scrapbook of ideas, visuals, and thoughts that spark your creativity. #Creativity #SkillBuilding #AnimationIndustry #Filmmaking #Storytelling

#animation project #AgentFirst: While I'm concidering in what direction to take the project I'm thinking of making prints of the layer drawings I've already made of some of the characters. – the one below is an example (and the one that I'm primarily thinking of in this context). see earlier posts for more about the project, or use these links: – blog post with context and different brain stoms on subjects: https://lnkd.in/dk9NSWS – google-doc with rough sketch of historical frame and plot for a longer drama story (also in the blog post): https://lnkd.in/efdhx8C8 look for #project_agent_first on FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter / X

🎬How to do an animation like this? Last animation film for Hermès we did @Convergences ✏️After a detailed story board, and a design research to give Life and personnality to cartoon characters, 📸We shoot all views at the studio, we cut and rebuild most of the pictures as we could do with a collage. ✂️After few days of retouching, we animate the little characters on the stop motion movie. 💄Last detail to polish the content : sound ;) Animated characters are a good narrative « How to »content. "Don't ever let anybody take advantage of you" With this animation I learned the importance of PLANNING and designing all the character's universe IN ADVANCE, even for a 10 seconds shot. Having clear what the characters were doing before, where are they now, how should they respond to their surroundings, their personalities... All of those questions that may not even appear on screen, help craft more tridimensional and believable characters that'll fit way better in the environment. Huge thanks to Alex Morales Díaz for offering to do the Lighting and Compositing, this shot comes to life due to you. And also huge recognition to Alan Morales Muñoz for having the patience and the disposition to give me feedback and guidance through the animation.
