📢 NEWS ALERT: 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 🥳🛳️ Today, Enova SF announced support for 14 new zero-emission vessels in Norway, marking a major step towards a sustainable future for our maritime industry! 🔬 🇧🇪 During a recent visit to our Feluy site, I had the pleasure to visit the #research center of TotalEnergies OneTech #Belgium.    The visit included an insightful presentation by the #ResearchAndDevelopment Department with a focus on their activities on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). Researchers in Feluy work on feedstocks and catalysts for bio-based #SAF, as well as on innovations in the value chain and technologies for future e-fuels that could also be critical to decarbonize the #aviation sector. R&D is at the forefront of our transition and essential to the development of #SAF, supplied by #TotalEnergies. Yet even with all of the technological progress, there is also the crucial role of European Union in ensuring that the right framework is in place to secure the most competitive production possible of sustainable fuels in #Europe.

After a busy and insightful week in Brussels and Antwerp, engaging with eFuel producers and key stakeholders in the maritime industry, I’m feeling very optimistic about the rapid integration of efuels into maritime transport. The discussions highlighted the growing commitment from industry players and policymakers to accelerate the adoption of cleaner energy solutions for shipping. The timing couldn't be more critical, as FuelEU Maritime is set to launch in just a month. This regulation marks a significant step in Europe's decarbonization journey, aiming to increase the uptake of sustainable alternative fuels in the maritime sector while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships. During my conversations, it was clear that while challenges remain—such as scaling production and ensuring cost-competitiveness—there’s a strong momentum building. Stakeholders across the value chain, from shipowners to fuel producers, are aligning their strategies to meet the demands of this new regulatory era. The collaboration and innovation I witnessed this week leave me confident that eFuels will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable maritime transport. As we move closer to implementation, it’s crucial for all involved to maintain this momentum, fostering partnerships and embracing bold solutions to navigate the path toward greener shipping. We at the eFuel Alliance can help with that. The future of maritime transport is within our grasp, and I’m excited to see how these efforts unfold in 2025 and beyond.

Air Products is speaking at the #ArgusCleanAmmoniaEurope Conference tomorrow in Rotterdam Ahoy. Steve Petridis, Special Advisor to the Chairman, will join the panel titled "The case for ammonia as a fuel in the maritime sector". Among other things, the panel will discuss how the industry is preparing for ships to be ready for #ammonia bunkering, and how actors across the value chain play a role in ensuring #safety. Steve will be joined by Navid Ostadian-Binai, Head of Green Vessels and Fuels at Maersk Tankers, Carl-Antoine Saverys, CEO at Exmar, and Naomi van den Berg, Program Manager Sustainable Transport, Port of Rotterdam.
