Now, here's some legislation we can get behind! Firstly, this is a bi-partisan, all-female cohort of Senators coming together to improve our understanding of #menopause. Secondly, we know changes during menopause have an impact on our #hearthealth and vice versa... Thirdly, the bill is comprehensive in its approach to a fact of life for women.
SWHR is proud to endorse the Advancing Menopause and Mid-Life Women's Health Act and thanks Senators Patty Murray (D-WA), Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), Susan Collins (R-ME), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) for their leadership to support research, training, and awareness around this important life stage: https://ow.ly/HQ8R50RztiE

Each year from 1 March we observe both Endometriosis Awareness Month and Endometriosis Awareness Week to give visibility to the often unseen impacts the condition has on the daily lives of those assigned female at birth who have it 💜 Women in our region are disproportionately affected – approximately 17 per cent of the population assigned female at birth residing in North Brisbane and Moreton Bay have been diagnosed with endometriosis compared to 11 per cent of the total Australian female at birth population (data taken from our Women's Health Snapshot https://bit.ly/4c2N19V). We're proud that our region is now home to two dedicated Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain (EPP) clinics established to provide better access to multi-disciplinary, affirming and patient-centred care in a general practice setting, and where these women can access personalised management plans and support. 🖱 Read more: https://bit.ly/4bTywp7

If you want to learn about women’s health - these are the two books you need.
Here are my and Nighat Arif books educating on the life course of women’s health. We are a great pair. The clinician and the scientist. We both cover events from puberty to menopause. Aimed at slightly different audiences. I talk about the science and evidence. Nighats is more accessible. #yourfertileyears #theknowledge thanks Sarah Parfitt for the image.

It's been more than 20 years since I became Menopause Practitioner , certified by The Menopause Society . Ever since my name and contact have been listed on their website as a practitioner. During that time I received a handful of phone calls from patients seeking help. In the last few weeks my phone is buzzing daily, some days multiple times, with women desperately seeking (and not getting) help. My primary care colleagues, ee need to step up! It is not that complicated. Only few patients will need to be assessed by specialist. Most if the patients can be triaged and therapy started in our clinic. Check this session, learn about resorces and tools you could use to quickly and effectively assess and prescribe for this population. #menopause #evidence #primarycare #women's health

EXECUTIVE ORDER ON ADVANCING WOMEN’S HEALTH RESEARCH! ✒️Yesterday, President Joe Biden marked Women’s History Month by signing an expansive executive order to help progress women’s health initiatives. The order includes a $200 million allocation to bolster research, diagnosis, and treatment concerning women’s health issues. 💰This order follows the establishment of ARPA-H, a new healthcare agency, and the allocation of $100 million for a "sprint" for greater research on women’s health. During his recent State of the Union address, President Biden urged Congress to invest an additional $12 billion into similar endeavors. ♀️The new executive order particularly targets addressing menopause symptoms and long-term health issues post-midlife, such as osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases. Its objectives include enhancing the representation of women in clinical trials to gain deeper insights into conditions that affect women uniquely or disproportionately. Moreover, the order aims to foster innovative approaches to address the distinctive healthcare needs of women. 💬First Lady Jill Biden voiced, "Medications, treatments and medical school textbooks are based on men and their bodies but that ends today. Finally, women will get the health care they deserve." 🍾Cheers to getting one step closer to women receiving the healthcare they deserve! https://lnkd.in/gYy-dtrY #WomensHealth #Menopause #EmpoweringWomen #WhiteHouse

Pelvic Organ Prolapse Awareness Month is just around the bend. Patients, practitioners, industry, please BANG the DRUM long and loud next month! APOPS established #POPAwarenessMonth in 2014 via Joint Resolution 71 with introductory efforts of Senators Lazich and Taylor, and cosponsored by Representatives Endsley, Skowronski, and Johnson. I remain so thankful for their engagement. If 1 in 2 women prevalence isn't enough to lift the veil on this common, cryptic women's health issue, I don't know what is. Here's a link to some tools to aid process. Keep it simple, every event matters! https://lnkd.in/eTAJvEpN Here's some suggestions to event types. https://lnkd.in/gTWppBAg #APOPS #womenshealthempowerment #TheBiggestSecretinWomensHealth

One of the most common questions we get at SimpliFed is "Why would I use virtual care instead of in-person care for maternal health needs?" There is no one right, silver bullet answer, but there is a spectrum of offerings healthcare systems and health plans can offer to patients to improve maternal health outcomes, reduce costs, and improve quality + HEDIS metrics. As an example, our analysis of a large national health plans dataset shows $4-6K in additional costs during the postpartum period outside of the global maternity bundle, much of it aligned to patients not having access to care to treat high risk conditions such as preeclampsia, maternal mental health, and more. The good news is that we have EXACTLY the right person who will share some of her insights in response to the question above based on her learnings from her leadership along the way. We have been so lucky to learn from Dr. Zeeshan, the Director of Quality for Women's Health at Sun River Health. She is an expert in engaging patients during the pregnancy and postpartum period to improve maternal health outcomes, so be sure to sign up and tune in below!
Join our CEO Andrea Ippolito and Dr. Quratulain Zeeshan, Director of Quality for Women’s health at Sun River Health for a discussion on engaging hard to reach patients. They’ll discuss: 🚧 Common barriers to care and how to combat them 🤳 Layering in virtual care and it’s benefits for patients 🤝 The significance of long-term engagement for pregnant and postpartum women ☑ And so much more!
