The 19th Amendment, passed in 1920, was a victory that made it possible for women to have a voice in decision-making in this country. However, due to discriminatory voting laws, it wasn't until the 20th century that minority women were finally included. White women (largest voting demographic) have the closest proximity to White male power, political and economic. A majority of White women consistently vote in alignment with the majority of White men. This has resulted in a majority of White women voting in support of the Republican Party (which is 85% White) in nearly every election since data has been collected. In the Trump era, a majority of White women supported him in 2016 and 2020...and are poised to do so again in 2024, much to the chagrin of Black women (largest nonwhite voting bloc) who oppose Trump and the GOP by more than 90%. The majority of ALL nonwhite women voters are aligned with Black women. Only the majority of White women stand conspicuously in support of the White male power structure that majorities of all women collectively complain about. Todays the day Use your vote whoever you vote for Women have had voting rights for less than 100 years here’s the timeline 1. **1832 - Great Reform Act**: Voting rights extended to adult male property owners, including the middle class. 2. **1867 - Second Reform Act**: Voting rights further extended to working-class men in urban areas. 3. **1884 - Third Reform Act**: Voting rights expanded to include rural working-class men. 4. **1918 - Representation of the People Act**: All men over 21 and women over 30 who met minimum property requirements gained the right to vote. 5. **1928 - Equal Franchise Act**: All women over 21 granted the right to vote, achieving electoral equality with men. 6. **1969 - Representation of the People Act**: Voting age lowered to 18 for both men and women.

The number of women in the state Senate and Assembly is already a record 50 of 120 after the 2022 election. And based on the primary results so far, it’s expected to increase to at least 55 women after the November election.

The journey for women to secure the right to vote in the United States was a long and arduous battle, culminating in a significant victory with the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution on August 18, 1920. This historic amendment, which granted women the right to vote, marked the end of almost a century of protest and activism, beginning in earnest with the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848. The struggle spanned 72 years, a testament to the resilience and determination of the suffragists. Protecting the right to vote is crucial for maintaining the foundation of democracy. Voting is not only a fundamental democratic right but also the primary means by which citizens participate in their government, influencing policies and decisions that affect their lives. By ensuring that this right remains protected, we honor the struggle and sacrifice of those who fought for suffrage, acknowledging the high cost of activism which often involved imprisonment, force-feeding, and societal ostracization. Safeguarding the right to vote continues the legacy of the broader struggle for equality and inclusion. It is essential to prevent regression into inequality and disenfranchisement, as history has shown that rights can be eroded if not vigilantly protected. The ability to vote empowers individuals, allowing for representation that addresses the needs and concerns of all citizens, including women who have historically been underrepresented in political spheres. The right to vote is a tribute to those who fought tirelessly for this fundamental democratic process. It is our responsibility to future generations to maintain and expand access to voting, ensuring that democracy remains vibrant and representative.
