President & CEO at Appiah Consulting Team International Inc. Experienced International Business Negotiation/Strategy.
Last week, I posted my 30 years of experience in the work place. Today's post is engaging in thinking about a few questions as I invite those that would like to share their thoughts and insights. Here are the questions balanced with some thoughts: 1. I have observed that, the main purpose of HR is to execute what the ccompany's policies are. How does your Human Resource (HR) team support the employees of your company outside of just policies. Share examples 2. Is the HR organization transactional or transformational. Why? 3. Does HR advocate for the employees to bring their full self to work? 4. Can we trust HR to advocate for employees for effective use of resources? 5. What would a transformational HR look like? Share your thoughts. Appiah Consulting Team is eady to discuss Organizational Change and Leadership with experiential learning.

Daily behaviours of your leaders are the key to employee engagement. We often think of leadership as a process of influencing and motivating others, primarily through leaders' qualities such as confidence, compassion, or agility. While these characteristics may facilitate certain individuals in influencing and inspiring others, it's essential to shift our focus to the behaviours that leaders exhibit day in and day out. A recent study by Arnold Bakker and colleagues tracked 57 Norwegian naval cadets over 30 days, querying them daily about their job engagement and performance, as well as the behaviours their leaders exhibited each day. The study found that leaders demonstrating transformational behaviours (inspiring and motivating employees through a shared vision, recognition, and appealing to psychological needs) were associated with employees being more likely to use their strengths on the same day and reporting more proactive behaviours. This, in turn, correlated with higher work engagement the following day. This shows us the very dynamic nature of work engagement and how it may be nurtured by the right leadership behaviours on a daily basis. And most importantly, this isn't about possessing the right characteristics, but rather about learning and leveraging the right behaviours to empower your teams. People are complicated, therefore HR is complicated. But, can we find a way to simplify it? Even for seasoned HR professionals, the buzzwords can be confusing. Strategy, leadership, coaching, innovation, conflict management, capacity building... How can any one person know what to do, when to do it, and how HR relates to the rest of business? Do we need a model for people management? Something that gives a little structure, and provide a simpler way to understand the forces that affect people, and how we can optimize for performance? Then we can go beyond the tools and buzzwords and focus on actual results for the organization and the people that work in it. What do you think? Successful organizations need both inspirational leaders and sound managers. In order to achieve increased and sustainable results, organizations need to execute strategies and engage employees. Success is measured by analyzing where the organization is in regards to its goals and its mission. This statement highlights that for an organization to achieve lasting success, it requires not only visionary leaders who inspire and motivate employees, but also effective managers who can execute strategies and ensure smooth operations; to reach sustainable results, organizations must actively implement their plans and foster employee engagement, while regularly evaluating progress against their set goals and mission
