The #SubscriptionX report from InternetRetailing and RetailX about the state of the retail subscription market certainly made some waves. Especially in the one-size-fits-all versus personalized subscription offering debate. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕? Though retail customers love and expect the personalized subscription experience, they still choose the one-size-fits-all subscription model. On the surface, it doesn’t make sense. But there’s a simple explanation - most personalized subscriptions don’t offer the minimum length time terms that customers want. Because they’re not generally logistically possible. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬. And that’s where Bjorn’s points in the panel come in. Personalization will always give the customer something special that traditional retail can’t offer. But a retail company will need the best subscription management software to create the product offerings and pricing tiers, but also give the fulfillment support for the minimum length times that customers want. That way, subscription retailers and their customers get the best of both worlds.
