OVERWATCH #stakeholders The diverse priorities, objectives, and needs of stakeholders can impact decision-making. 🚨In #EmergencyResponse scenarios, stakeholder involvement and support are crucial for effective operations. Stakeholders can be individuals, groups, or organizations, each with their own priorities, objectives, and needs. They play various roles, from first responders and emergency management agencies to community members and volunteers. Understanding and engaging with stakeholders is essential for successful coordination and delivery of emergency support. In wildfire management and containment, key stakeholders include: - 🇪🇺 #government agencies: These agencies are often the coordinators (at the #EU level or regionally) for emergency response and are responsible for managing and containing emergency events. - 🔥👩🚒 #firefighters and emergency responders: These are the groups on the front lines of emergency management and contention. They also have expertise in fire behaviour, fire suppression techniques, and fire management strategies, which can inform and influence decision- making by other stakeholders. - 🚒 🏭 #firefighting industry: Providing resources and support these companies participate in the wildfire contention, playing a crucial role in preventing, containing, and extinguishing wildfires. Their actions can make a significant difference in the outcome of the event. - 🧯🏠 population and property owners in affected areas: They have a vested interest in preventing and minimising damage to their homes and #communities. - 🔥 🌿 #environmental groups: These groups are interested in protecting natural habitats and #wildlife that emergencies may impact. They may also advocate for policies and practices that reduce the risk of wildfires. - 🏪 #business owners and industry: Businesses and industries that rely on natural resources, such as timber and agriculture, are also stakeholders in wildfire management and contention. Wildfires can have significant economic impacts on these industries. - 💸 #insurance companies: These companies are interested in reducing their exposure to risk and minimising financial losses from wildfires. They may promote policies and practices that reduce the risk of wildfires. Each stakeholder's actions and expertise contribute to the overall management and containment of wildfires. 🔴 #OVERWATCHproject supports #emergency and #crisismanagement for #floods | #wildfires 🔴 Do you want to learn more? 👉 https://lnkd.in/duaayzRY EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme Thank you to all the partners that are making this possible: Ithaca Srl - LINKS Foundation – Leading Innovation & Knowledge for Society - ISQ - Centrum Badań Kosmicznych Polskiej Akademii Nauk - Engineering Ingegneria Informatica Spa - Robotto Co - HOLO-LIGHT - ALPHA Consult - INESC TEC - CINAMIL #EU4SPACE #HORIZONEUROPE #Technology

Last week Athena ran and published the wildfire risk for 2024 for 8 western states. I will be posting new state maps at the LI group Athena Voice of the Acre over the next week or so. We can quickly update new states, but only do so when we have customers in the state. Our plan is to update the upcoming 12 months every quarter, although, so far, our clients are telling us the Athena maps are so far ahead of everything else in the market that they don't need quarterly updates. #prefire #firetech #geospatial #geospatialtechnology #arcGIS #artificialintelligenceforbusiness #propertyinsurance #riskmanagement
How current is that wildfire risk map? Depends on the state.

This is more than likely bc PA is the last to ever do anything to help the planet. My husband and I for the past 3 years (me myself about 7yrs) have for example trying to get the simplest request done in lower burrell pa. Put an end to the catch and release fishing that injures and or kills numerous waterfowl a season. It gets worse every yr. Ppl call NJ the arm pit of America. yet if anyone would go there in the past... idk how long... they are putting us and Ohio to shame with cleaning up their ocean, lakes,&rivers. they even have most of it totally blocked off for bird nesting. They actually do press charges when a bird protected by the MBTA (which is 98%of all birds in the USA mind you) is injured by a human. The lake is a simple thing to keep clean. if they turned places like this listed in this article and the park in lower burrell pa into a sanctuary for wildlife (or birds alone) THEY WOULD MAKE SO SO MUCH REVENUE FOR THAT PARTICULAR AREA. PPL LOVE TO TRAVEL TO WILDLIFE SANCTUARIES. THEY ALSO SPEND MONEY WHILE VISITING. Obviously this is a geese "favorite location". Waterfowl eat ticks by the 1,000s. We need them around to help protect us and our dogs. It seems ppl either wait till the last minute, and it is almost to late..or to late, or ppl just don't care that they're not doing anything at all. we all need to act now. this is no time to play around or pretend this isn't happening. the litter in pa is gross and getting worse yr after yr. we still have the lowest littering fines out of almost any state. it's a joke. I watched an entire family toss all their McDonald's trash bags, cups and all right out their car windows infront of a cop car. do u think they pulled them over??? nope. why not? it's supposed to be a damn fine? but they're ticket your butt for going 10 miles over the speed limit when u have to use the restroom and your bladder is exploding? that is not right. if we can't get the law behind mother nature...what hope do we have. and teach your kids not to litter as well. it is going to end up hurting their world in the end. think about it. We can't just wait till it gets bad. u must prevent things like this and smaller issues when they're easy to fix before it is to late. https://lnkd.in/gm9jQ9q6

CA Wildfire Safety Advisory Board Recommendations - Implications for UVM Last week, the California Wildfire Safety Advisory Board unanimously adopted a report that contains numerous recommendations for protecting the people, property and environment of California from the risk of wildfires. Among those recommendations are numerous items with impact on the utility vegetation management industry. These recommendations include: - proposed revisions to current state regulations - enhanced / expanded tree planting for energy conservation - defensible space inspections - enhanced / expanded tree planting and replacement based on right tree / right place principles - technology enhancement . ..and much more. I recommend that those connected to the UVM industry in California review the report (copy attached) and be prepared for the changes to come. Each of these recommendations will undoubtedly follow a process that includes public and industry input, which will thereafter lead to modification of practices across the state. Those involved in the UVM industry outside of California (including especially fire-prone states) should consider this a harbinger of things to come. The Tulane Utility Vegetation Management Institute stands ready to support these initiatives and to assist in answering questions from interested parties.

Wow this is a great post! Thanks for sharing Kelly Martin This is great that the Firefighting Workforce is set to benefit greatly from the FY2025 This budget allocation will play a crucial role in equipping and empowering our brave firefighters with the necessary resources and tools to combat wildfires effectively. However, we must emphasize the importance of sustained investments to effectively address the wildfire crisis. While the FY25 Budget Request is a step in the right direction, ongoing commitment and financial support are essential for long-term success. By prioritizing sustained investments, we can ensure that our firefighting workforce remains well-equipped, well-trained, and ready to face the challenges posed by wildfires. At AEM we firmly believe that preventing and managing wildfires requires a multi-faceted approach. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with communities, government agencies, and experts, we can make significant progress in reducing the devastating impact of wildfires. Together, we can work towards a future where communities are better prepared, wildfires are detected and contained swiftly, and recovery efforts are efficient and effective. AEM is proud to be at the forefront of this crucial mission! #WildfirePrevention #FirefighterSupport #CommunityResilience #AEMWildfireCommitment

"The mapping tools — particularly when they’re comprehensive, localized and up to date — can be a critical resource for residents, fire departments and local governments." see Scientific American article. That image was taked a few miles from my house and yes, everyone here in CO is trying to move fast to catch up. The big maps are a first step, but they have to be followed with local maps, then mitigation plans, grant applications, then funding and finally implementation. A recent fire district said "it will take a year for the planning (CWPP) at approx $100k, then grant applications, so we won't have the money for at least 18 months, and still have to do the mitigation work. In the meantime just cross your fingers and hope for no fires.." We're (Bintel Inc) working to accelerate the process and put in tools to maintain the data continuously at nomimal cost to break this cycle of years between updates. We have to get smarter faster. #maps #wildfire #CWPP #mitigation

🔥 Wildfire Warning: Outdated data poses a significant challenge for states in managing fire risks. Forestry and fire officials in Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Texas are taking decisive action to enhance accuracy and focus on high-risk areas. The upgrade introduces a "powerful" tool for wildfire mitigation, crucial as communities brace for a future of climate-juiced wildfires.
