Fundraising and partnerships is one of the most interesting and at the same time challenging roles one could ever take up. Interesting in the sense that, you get to work on all kinds of opportunities that your organization is eligible for.Challenging in the sense that you do not qualify to cut the evaluation stage. In all this, you get to work on so many ideas that give you the strength to keep trying. One day you're working on something you're passionate about and another you're working on something you desire to achieve but you find it way above your reach. Opportunities are all over and I keep learning each day. #fundraisers #NGOS #neworganizations #changemakers #champions #theoryofchange #systemsthinking #climatechange #resilience

Here are 10 ways that nonprofit leaders inhibit long-term revenue growth: ➡ Focusing on this year’s budget over long-term growth ➡ Not investing in talent development in their organization ➡ Spending every dollar raised in the current year instead of putting money aside for investment in future growth initiatives ➡ Not investing in their own leadership growth and development ➡ Refusing to acknowledge that fundraising is part of the mission and instead treating it like a “necessary evil” of the job ➡ Hiring and promoting the wrong people ➡ Creating incentives that work against your long-term growth objectives ➡ Refusing to actively participate in fundraising efforts ➡ Overloading your best fundraisers with administrative tasks and responsibilities ➡ Not believing that your mission is worthy of major, strategic investment This isn't an attack on leaders working to improve our world. Not at all. My objective here is to shine a light on the issues holding back your impact. If we can’t have an honest conversation about these things, we’ll never move beyond the status quo. And I don’t know about you, but I’m not excited by the status quo. I want to change the world, and I want to impact as many lives as possible. So I’m going to call out the things that hold us all back – me included. I hope you’ll join me in discovering ways to help leaders make a bigger impact in our world.

When a Kansas Wesleyan University Graduate Assistant quotes you to you, take it as a win. Thanks Carter Huyser! Last week, Chris Lehecka led our monthly leadership team training and asked us to share how we maintain a positive mindset when experiencing negative circumstances. My answer: Throughout the day, I continuously ask myself, "What good change may come if I do my job right?" If I focus on doing my best one task at a time, then I end up focusing on the good! When challenges emerge as obstacles, my integrity to the task at hand helps me to push through. I begin each day believing that Human Resources paperwork is not just paperwork. Recruiting calls aren't just regular phone calls. These interactions and assignments are opportunities to serve and improve the lives of those we work with. I take it personally! If you are a deeply devoted professional seeking to serve, please consider working for the SALINA FAMILY YMCA. View our opportunities at www.salinaymca.org/careers. 𝐍𝐏𝐎𝐬: 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥? At a recent Non-Profit summit for executives, Learnit CEO Damon Lembi explained why professional development should be framed as a "must have" instead of a perk. In a perfect world, every deserving nonprofit would have unlimited funding and resources. We’d all love that. But we know that isn’t realistic. Even if your organization doesn't have unlimited resources today, that doesn’t keep you from developing an incredible team. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝: Attract and Retain Talent: High-quality training helps draw top talent who want to grow and learn. Stay Lean: Well-trained employees can handle multiple roles, increasing efficiency. Boost Productivity: Ongoing training keeps skills sharp and processes efficient. Foster a Mission-Driven Culture: Training reinforces your mission, keeping everyone aligned and motivated. NPOs need not spend a fortune to develop their teams. Even with a tight budget, there are ways to get creative. We argue it's something you can't afford not to do.
