Does your company have a "Populist CTO"? Or are you one of them? Tech people like to have fun, and their toy is technology. They enjoy experimenting with new tools, languages, and architectures, which is fine. However... Sometimes, they overcomplicate or engineer solutions that could have had simpler alternatives. This can result in a highly fragmented tech stack that is difficult to maintain. Occasionally, these approaches lead to unnecessary and expensive outcomes, adding unnecessary costs to the business. Among some. It's important to note that they don't do this in bad faith. I am confident they want the best for the business. What's worse is that I've observed CTOs and Engineering Managers who, more often than not, accept any new development request without careful consideration. I refer to them as "populist CTOs" who prioritize the wishes of the development team (devs) over the general long-term interests of the company. This doesn't mean saying "NO" 100% of the time. But, while listening team requests can positively impact team morale and employee retention, it's not about giving them a blank check. And managers need to be aware of this dynamic to prevent unpleasant surprises. ---- Follow me for more IT insights. #fractionalcto #cto #it

The Future: Job Seekers AI Robots 🤖 talking to AI Interviewers 🤖 Yesterday, I discussed how the automated approach job seekers take when applying for jobs can be flawed. Today, I will address the other end of the spectrum. Companies and recruiters are increasingly relying on AI to vet candidates and streamline the interview process. From a candidate's perspective, this trend raises a strong reason to avoid companies that do not value their applicants. As a result, the human factor is being diminished, leading to a scenario where robots are merely communicating with one another. 🤦♂️ Is this really what we want? Is it leading anywhere?

Finding a job is not lead generation! From talking with friends in the IT industry who are looking for new challenges, I’ve learned about how some people are approaching the job search. There's an entire industry of platforms, GitHub projects, and SaaS services that aim to "automate" the job search process. These tools allow people to: - Run AI bots - Find jobs based on your description/preferences - Generate matching resumes and cover letters - Automatically apply for jobs (linkedin / glassdoor / etc..) - Generate follow-up emails I believe this approach is absolutely wrong! I'm convinced that recruiters and talent managers are already aware of these practices, and they will be banned or dismissed. Job searching is the complete opposite of this. It’s about studying the target company, finding the right job that fits, directly talking with decision-makers, and adding real value when you apply. For job seekers, please reconsider this automated approach.

I'd like to share my latest technical post with you: https://lnkd.in/ds-FqN5k Exposing the Deployment as a LoadBalancer It covers topics related to Kubernetes, AWS, and exposing deployments, and is targeted at a specialized audience. Lately, I’ve been focusing a lot on AWS and Kubernetes (partly out of personal interest and partly due to work requirements to better understand how to deploy our applications effectively). If you’re interested in this topic, don’t miss the opportunity to check out my blog for more hands-on posts. https://lnkd.in/d-jw-7pQ #blogging #tech #kubernetes #aws

LinkedIn's "Easy Apply" === Let's see if we get lucky. A quick search on GitHub reveals countless projects that automate job applications, making it possible to apply based on pre-set parameters and prompts. (https://lnkd.in/eyHtUyKi) If I were a Talent/HR Manager, I would consider discarding applications submitted via "Easy Apply" altogether. She/he should stand out to capture the employer's attention and it conveys the exact opposite of what it should: candidate laziness.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: AI-generated content has clear use cases where it works right out of the box — the content is good as-is and doesn’t require further modifications or a deep understanding of the underlying technology. https://lnkd.in/dr6cjx6Y For other use cases (90% of our daily work), AI serves as a helpful assistant. Automation may improve certain tasks, but it will never fully replace engineers, as we still need to translate human intentions into the binary world.

I believe this tool deserves more attention. It’s time to move away from those Google Sheets. After trying out various CRM tools, I can confidently say that Zoho Bigin is the ideal choice for small-sized companies. It's not only affordable but also offers all the essential features to manage your contacts and leads efficiently while integrating seamlessly with third-party tools. If you’re not already using a CRM, I strongly recommend starting with Bigin and experience the benefits of a dedicated CRM system tailored for small businesses.

New short video in youtube https://lnkd.in/dJg4bVuH Some people criticize microservices because they can lead to a myriad of tech stacks, making them complicated to manage. But they forget that engineers enjoy experimenting with new technologies and suggesting new tech stacks. If you prohibit them from doing so, you risk losing their engagement and commitment, which may ultimately lead to them leaving the company. Find a balance.
microservices with multiple technology stacks is not necessarily a bad thing. #shorts

We often hear claims that there will be no more IT jobs in the near future and see applications built by AI. Are our jobs in danger? No. The use cases we see are not reflective of the real world. They might be sufficient for an MVP, suitable for a quick mockup or draft, or provide an easy solution to an immediate problem. However, companies and individuals are not robots, use cases are far more complex that any super intelligence can handle at once, and AI is far from replacing us in our day-to-day activities. AI is primarily a productivity multiplier. It enables us to achieve the 10X efficiency we've always wanted. I explore this topic further in my latest YouTube video. Enjoy watching it!

New post on my blog! This time, I discuss AI and developers. After months of working with AI and understanding its strengths and weaknesses, I believe AI will not replace developers but will enable them to become 10x developers. You can find my reasoning in more detail here: https://lnkd.in/dNCG2Khx Enjoy!
