C o n s t r u c t i o n  P r o g r e s s Exciting progress on the 'Moringa' building site! We're proud to be working alongside WTM Engineers GmbH on this groundbreaking development, led by Moringa GmbH (Landmarken AG). As Germany’s first Cradle-to-Cradle residential high-rise, this eco-friendly project in #HafenCity, #Hamburg, is setting new benchmarks for sustainable urban living. The 'Moringa' complex, designed by kadawittfeldarchitektur, will feature 190 residential units, including subsidised housing, alongside co-working and co-living spaces. The buildings are arranged around a lush green courtyard, creating more green space—both horizontally and vertically—than is built over. The façade will act as a 'green lung', enhancing air quality, reducing heat, and contributing to biodiversity in the area. Following the Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy, the project utilises recyclable and healthy materials, designed for easy dismantling and reuse, showcasing the future of circular construction. Nestled in Lyngby, Denmark, Basecamp Lyngby serves as a home for 900 students, PhDs, and senior citizens, fostering a vibrant, intergenerational community. This project stands out not just for its design but also for its focus on creating interactive, social spaces that enhance community living. 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 >> Certified Sustainability: The building features a green roof that supports biodiversity, helps in rainwater management, and improves air quality while regulating indoor temperatures (Lars Gitz Architects) (Kragh Berglund). >> Energy Efficiency: About 90% of the building's ventilation system energy is recovered and reused, significantly reducing the overall energy consumption and enhancing heating efficiency. >> Eco-Friendly Transportation: With 1,000 bike parking spaces and proximity to natural reserves, the project promotes less reliance on cars, encouraging cycling and outdoor activities. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. 🌍♻️ In Copenhagen, Denmark, you can now ski on top of a waste-to-energy power plant - the CopenHill project, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group. Here are some amazing facts about this innovative facility: ✅ It transforms 440,000 tons of waste annually into clean energy for 150,000 homes. ✅ The ski slope on the roof is over 1,640 feet (500 meters) long. ✅ During summer, the rooftop park offers hiking trails, playgrounds, and climbing walls ✅ The facade is made up of 1.2m tall and 3.3m wide aluminium bricks. ✅ It aligns with Copenhagen's goal of becoming the world's first carbon-neutral city by 2025. The project, which took nearly ten years to complete, is a prime example of "Hedonistic Sustainability" - combining social infrastructure with architectural design. CopenHill is also an urban recreation centre and environmental education hub. In Denmark, 53% of the country's waste is being transformed into heating and electricity.
