As the construction industry faces increasing challenges—from sustainability concerns to climate resilience—natural building materials are gaining attention ♻️ In the UK, there’s a growing push to incorporate materials like timber, straw, hemp, and earth into construction, inspired by their fire resistance, sustainability, and durability. This mirrors conversations happening globally, such as in Los Angeles, where recent wildfires have sparked renewed interest in fireproof, eco-friendly alternatives. With companies like Ecomerchant promoting sustainable materials and organizations like The Centre for Alternative Technology advocating for natural building solutions, the UK is well-positioned to lead in resilient, low-carbon construction 🦺! Natural building materials offer the potential for greener, more fire-resistant homes and a future where construction is both environmentally conscious and disaster-resistant ✅. #Construction #Sustainability #BuildingMaterials #Innovation #EcoFriendly #ResilientDesign #GreenBuilding

Shout out to all those who joined me at the #Greenbuild International Conference last week. Tons of ingenuity and advancement happening in the building space! Here are a couple data points I found interesting: 1️⃣ The sustainable construction market is expected to be worth over $2 trillion by 2030. 2️⃣ If we got more green roofs above our heads, urban air temperatures could be lowered by up to 5°C. 3️⃣ LEED-certified buildings often have higher resale values because people want to work somewhere green.
