Day 2 of My Virtual Assistant Journey with alx_africa ! Still in the onboarding phase, and it’s been a whirlwind of learning and discovery. Today, we focused on navigating Savanna and the ALX portal. Key Highlights: 1. Portal Navigation: We explored the ALX portal, joining the community and learnt how to acess the VA library. 2. Savannah Overview: We explored the learning portal in-depth, learning how to access resources, submit assignments, and track our progress and 3. Week-to-Week Activities - Completed our weekly tasks and assignments. - Engaged in interactive sessions that simulate real VA scenarios. - Participated in quizzes and scored high, reinforcing our learning. The structured approach of ALX ensures that we’re building a solid foundation in virtual assistance. The combination of theoretical lessons and practical tasks is incredibly effective. 🌟I’ve been Accepted Into the ALX Program!🌟 I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted into the ALX program, set to begin on September 23rd🎉 Reflecting on my journey to this point, I would like to share a pivotal moment during the application process. When asked to articulate why I needed the scholarship, I found myself staring at a blank screen for what felt like an eternity. I know I need the scholarship but the deeper question WHY? left me momentarily speechless. After taking a step back to gather my thoughts, I realised that this opportunity is not just about receiving support; it’s about commitment and dedication. I plundered what would make me worthy of this scholarship and how I could ensure I wouldn’t take it for granted. The truth is, there’s no guarantee that I won’t stumble or even falter alone the way. What I do know is that the hardest part is showing up consistently, putting forth my best effort, wholeheartedly commuting to the process. That realisation became my answer. Old me might have hesitated, letting fear of FAILURE hold me back. But the emerging new me is ready to take the bill by the horns and embrace this challenge with open arms. For anyone else embarking on the ALX virtual assistant program starting September 23rd, I would love to connect and share ideas. FINALLY! Just Completed My ALX Professional Foundations Course! These past 8 weeks with ALX have been a whirlwind of late nights, intense team meetings, and countless schedule adjustments as we navigated different commitments. This wasn’t my first ALX training I’d previously completed both the Virtual Assistant and AICE programs, which were challenging in their own right. But Professional Foundations brought a whole new level of intensity and growth. Every module was a unique challenge that pushed me further, sparking my curiosity and driving me to expand my understanding. The depth of knowledge encapsulated in each lesson was mind-blowing, and meeting weekly milestones became fulfilling. I found myself relearning concepts I thought I knew, only to realize how much deeper the insights could go. At first, I doubted whether this course was for me. By Week 3, I even considered giving up. But the thirst for growth, and the motivation to conquer each module, kept me going. My teammates played a crucial role in this journey every late-night meeting, every shared resource, and every problem-solving session showed me the power of teamwork. Their consistency, cooperation, and respect for our differences were humbling. Together, we learned the foundational skills essential to thrive in any tech or digital environment a priceless takeaway that I’ll carry forward. Thank you, ALX, for pushing me beyond my comfort zone and helping me overcome my fears. 🚀 My Journey with the ALX Online Course Program 🚀 As I embarked on the ALX journey, I knew I was signing up for something challenging, but I had no idea just how transformative it would be! Here's a look at my progress and some key lessons I've learned along the way. 🌟 Why I Started I joined ALX to deepen my skills in google workspace, data analysis, data entry, problem-solving. The program’s hands-on approach and rigorous projects aligned perfectly with my career goals. 💻 Learning the Ropes From coding challenges to project deadlines, ALX has pushed me out of my comfort zone. My daily routine is a mix of intense study sessions, coding practice, and collaborating with fellow learners across the globe. (Yes, it’s as intense as it sounds!) 🏆 Achievements and Milestones One of my proudest moments was completing week two milestone. As I was almost giving up after realizing that I had not completed and I had week three also waiting to be completed. Looking at my overall curriculum score being only 17.7%, I got so demoralised and lost all the hopes of achieving the goal. But after all was done for the two weeks in one, It reminded me how much I’ve grown, both technically and personally. Overcoming each challenge has built my resilience and sharpened my skills. 👥 Community and Collaboration One of the best parts of this journey has been the ALX community. Whether it’s learning from mentors or teaming up with peers, the support and shared insights have been invaluable. ✨ Looking Ahead With ALX’s guidance, I'm not just gaining new skills—I’m reshaping my career path. Summary of Week 2 Learnings in ALX Virtual Assistant Program During Week 2 of the ALX Virtual Assistant Program, I learned that a virtual assistant (VA) is a professional who works remotely to provide efficient administrative, creative, and technical support to a team or individual. Roles and Responsibilities of a VA: 1. Managing tasks such as research, calendar, and time management. 2. Handling verbal, visual, and textual communication. 3. Making trip reservations. 4. Managing emails and records. 5. Performing data entry and various other tasks. Advantages of Human VAs over AI VAs: 1. Human VAs excel in handling unexpected issues that AI may not be programmed to manage. Skills Required for a VA: - Soft Skills: Growth mindset, problem-solving, proactivity, patience, and more. - Technical Skills: Managing client inboxes and calendars, scheduling, project management, transcribing, etc. - Tools: Proficiency in tools such as Gmail, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Sheets, Asana, and more.
