Tomorrow is the last day to participate in the Batten Alumni Advisory Board’s “Spring Challenge” to fundraise money for the University of Virginia Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Donations go towards students whom pursue unpaid or underfunded internships in the public sector. This year, the goal is to raise $35,000 to support the Batten School’s future policy leaders. Your donation can: (1) Allow students to pursue internships that align with their passions in policy. (2) Alleviate any financial barriers that prevent today's student leaders from becoming tomorrow’s public servants. (3) Pay forward a metro swipe to work, a networking lunch, or a tank of gas to commute. Having experienced unpaid internships, I know these donations can very much be the margin of success for these students’ careers. The impact compounds far past just funding the internship, as that experience then leverages other opportunities down the road. Join us in raising money for the future policy leaders at the Batten School and help leave a lasting impact in these students careers by making your gift today! #GivingDay #UVA #Batten #PublicSector #Internships “ https://lnkd.in/eEBz9rZ8

It's #GivingTuesday, a national day to support your favorite #charity. Did you know that beyond supporting small businesses to learn about technologies, systems, and strategies, the #TechWithHeart Foundation (nonprofit) supports #minoritystudents to gain competitive advantage through virtual #internships in marketing, media, journalism, and web development? Imagine if you had a mentor at such an early age. What would your career look like today if you had been shown the blueprint for business success as a young adult? If you have a heart to support minority students, or would like to get involved with mentoring and teaching, please consider supporting this initiative. Our goal is to teach and train these students in preparation of supporting the needs our small business community. It is truly a team effort. $50/day, less than a full bag of groceries, will feed a student’s future for a lifetime! https://lnkd.in/eePa2iKY #minoritystudentinternships #diversityandinclusion #tech_w_heart #educationalnonprofit

On this Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting NYC youth through Roads to Success, an organization I have been involved with for many years. The pandemic significantly impacted academic achievement, leaving many students struggling to recover even three years later (article link below). Your donations will directly contribute to reducing education disparities. This #GivingTuesday, our focus is on raising crucial funds for these initiatives: - College prep workshops - College tours for low-income students - College applications/travel for first-gen students - Career-building workshops and leadership events - Paid internship opportunities NYC's youth possess immense potential, but many lack the resources to reach their aspirations. Together, we can rewrite this story! Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a meaningful difference. Will you join us in supporting their journey today? Results for America, a non-profit organization that helps government leaders use evidence and data to find solutions to many of society’s ills – recently issued an updated case study about the progress a program in the City of Charlotte has made to improve upward mobility for its children. A decade ago in a study about intergenerational mobility of America’s 50 biggest cities, Charlotte came in dead last, but it's made leagues of progress since. They key has been the Year Up program which, according to the case study, “operates tuition-free and provides its mostly low-income participants with six months of sector-specific technical coursework followed by a six-month internship, with the goal of transitioning them into full-time roles.” This Management Update by Barrett and Greene Inc. delves into the key components of the program, which can be useful in many other cities. During the Fall semester, our Volunteer and Community Engagement class (PAD 622) continued working on collaborative efforts involving NKU Graduate Education and Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati. Students in this class worked with THREE nonprofit organizations on NINE service-learning projects: Community Shares of Greater Cincinnati: 1) new board member orientation handbook with updated forms; and 2) board member survey, analyses, and recommendations related board engagement. MUSE, Cincinnati's Women's Choir: 1) virtual information session for prospective volunteers; 2) draft volunteer position descriptions and recruitment ideas; 3) new volunteer handbook; and 4) suggested updates and adjustments to the existing member handbook. American Legacy Theatre: 1) recommendations for a more formal internship program; 2) draft volunteer position descriptions and application form; and 3) volunteer orientation materials. Thanks to all for being VERY ENGAGED in this service-learning experience! Hopefully, our nonprofit partners gained some useful information, ideas, and tools while our students applied the course content and learned more deeply. #NKUMPA #NKU #experientiallearning #learningbydoing #nonprofitmanagement #nonprofits #CommunityShares #MUSE #MUSECincinnati #AmericanLegacyTheatre #ALT #volunteermanagement #volunteerengagement #communityengagement

Paid internships are foundational to providing career opportunities for young people who cannot afford to work for free. I love that this is focused on nonprofits and community organizations that don’t have resources for paid internships in their budgets. This is how we invest in the next generation of leaders. #PaidInternships #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityInvestment
Applications are now open to eligible non-profit and community-based organizations for Atlantic Union Bank's second annual Future Community Impact Makers Grant Program. 🎉 The application is presented by the bank's Community Impact Team, and more information can be found here: https://bit.ly/3NJ6z8S. Last year, the program provided 15 paid summer internship grants to organizations across our footprint. This year, we're doubling our impact by providing up to 30 grants worth $4,000 each! 👏 This program works to support pay equity within the community-based sector, while providing students with exposure to different career paths, opportunities for foundational skill development, and the ability to start building a professional network. Share with organizations you know, love and support. Member FDIC

MBA Consulting Intern at JLL Chicago | MBA Candidate at Michigan Ross | Focused on Sustainable Solutions for the Future
🗣 Calling University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business MBA Class of 2025!! How do you aim to support social impact causes while at school and focusing on your career? 🤔 Most will volunteer or donate to causes they care about. Some others forego the traditional MBA career path and instead decide to pursue jobs that focus on social impact. 🤑🤑🤑 On average, interns for Investment Banking and Consulting make over $750 per day. 💸💸💸 In contrast, the average recipient of Business+Impact at Michigan Ross internship funding receives less than 1/4th of these salaries. The Give-A-Day Fund is a longstanding Ross tradition recognized by the University of Michigan for its innovation of encouraging peer to peer philanthropy. Any level of donation helps stretch their funds as much as possible to support more students. As a student-led fundraising initiative that is gearing up for its 14th year supporting our MBA peers engaged in low paying/unpaid social impact internships, please spread the word to other classmates however you can! 🙏🏼 Help create a more equitable experience for future classmates by donating one day of your summer salary, or by sponsoring one day of somebody else’s ---> https://l.ead.me/gadf2024 (P.S. Stay tuned for a special opportunity to help spread the GADF word AND have a chance to get some freebies 👀)
