Confidence Boost! 🚀 The Power of Breaking Big Projects into Smaller Tasks 🚀 This is something that I go through every #&%$! day facing a daunting project that, at first glance, feels overwhelming. It's so easy to feel intimidated and unsure of where to start. But I have found that,by breaking the project into smaller, more manageable tasks, I can tackle it one step at a time and build momentum along the way. Here are a few key benefits I've discovered from this approach: → Increased Clarity: Breaking a project into smaller tasks, each one becomes a mini-goal, providing a clear roadmap for what needs to be accomplished. → Sense of Progress: Completing smaller, is like checking items off a to-do list – each tick brings us one step closer to our ultimate goal. → Reduced Overwhelm: By focusing on one task at a time, becomes easier than to grapple with the entire project all at once. → Opportunity for Reflection: Breaking down a project allows to assess our progress, make adjustments as needed, and course-correct along the way. → Builds Self-Confidence: Perhaps most importantly, completing smaller tasks builds self-confidence. Each task serves as a mini-win, reinforcing our belief in our abilities and fueling our motivation to keep going. So, the next time you're faced with a big project, consider breaking it down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Not only will it make the project feel less daunting, but it will also boost your confidence and set you up for success. I'd love to hear from you – what strategies do you use to tackle big projects and boost your confidence? In my project journey, I've seen quite a lot already - the quick sprints and the marathon challenges. Here's my piece of experience: project success is like keeping a plate spinning on a stick. Miss the balance between scope, resources, and time, and your project catches a cold. Suddenly, morale's sneezing, performance is wrapped in a blanket, and motivation? Well, it's left the building, probably in search of chicken soup. Remember, relying on Dayquil (or quick fixes) won't cure a project cold. Set clear goals, keep that plate spinning, and watch as your project health stays in tip-top shape! #ProjectManagement #KeepBalancing

𝙄'𝙢 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙤𝙪𝙩: on tracking progress…. So I know all the theory about tracking progress being the only way to actually make progress towards the outcome we're after BUT 𝙄 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 - maybe so many years of corporate month end reporting as a project manager?? 🥱 So I've been avoiding tracking things around a specific outcome I want - to get stronger Until a couple of weeks ago, when I was preparing for my Change masterclass 𝙄 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩 𝙖 𝙜𝙤 Very basic, just a list of new habits I want to create down the side, days along the top and a set of boxes to fill in when I complete them (with new bits added as I go along!) ALL IS WELL: what I’m thinking… Projects can be challenging. Trying to figure out how you can get everything done while meeting goals and timelines is frustrating. And if you’re like me the first thing you focus on is the deadline and then how to get to everything fit around it. Anyone would be flustered. It’s basically challenging yourself to fail. And we don’t want to do that. Clear that mindset! Let’s take another look at that list of goals and timelines. What do you need to accomplish first, what can be done while you’re working on something else? I’m a big fan of excel sheets for tracking big projects, writing daily to-do lists. What also works for me; checking off what I completed and moving the rest to another list. And you don’t have to do things alone, you can reach out and ask for help. You can talk about it with a friend. The moment you look at your projects as manageable they’re less scary and your confidence will go up. You’re stronger than you give yourself credit for. You’ve got this!

I love a Gantt chart. Perfectly calculated and articulated timelines, with deadlines and constraints and schedules masterfully choreographed. It's very pleasing to my [control freak] *ahem* order-obsessed self. The thing about project management is that if it's done well, there is room for MARGIN. Built into a great project are periods of flex time, expected challenges and setbacks that can be absorbed into the bigger picture, into the larger timeline. #Burnout is one of the greatest setbacks I've ever experienced. It's impacted every area of my life - social, emotional, physical, psychological, spiritual, and professional. But I'm learning that this is a flex time moment. This is built into my life's larger plan. When I put together the Gannt chart/project plan for my life, there are inevitable setbacks built into my overall life timeline. The best I can do is learn to plan for and expect those setbacks, move nimbly and humbly through the frustrations, flex and adjust. And sometimes, surprisingly, those gaps and setbacks teach me more about life than any perfectly executed timeline ever would. #burnout #burnoutrecovery #projectmanagement #projectmanager #burnoutprevention #burnoutcoach #endburnoutculture

When your team is trying to do a LOT of THINGS all at once, take a step back. Pause, have a coffee and give it a ponder. If you feel it's getting overwhelming, my suggestion is to follow a few quick steps. 1. List out all the things you're doing. All of them. 2. Write out the main goals of the team (or company). Hopefully you have a few corporate goals somewhere. 3. Which of those work items is actually helping achieve those goals? Circle those on your list. 4. Which of those work items is NOT helping with anything, and might be considered "non essential"? Cross them off of your list. 5. Prioritize the circled items, write a big old "1" and "2" and "3" right on the page. The top 3 are important...the others can wait. Next? Focus on the #1 item. Get it planned, get it done. Then, move on to #2, then #3. #prioritization #projectmanagement #countingto3 #worklifebalance #project180

Staring down the barrel of a complex project can be enough to make even the bravest of us feel overwhelmed and uncertain. 🤯 But don't worry - with the right approach, you can take control of the situation and turn that uncertainty into a driving force for success! Follow these four simple steps to conquer any project: 🚀 1. 🏆 Define the End Result: Picture yourself at the finish line and get crystal clear on what success looks like for this project. 2. 🧩 Break it Down: Like a puzzle, every project can be broken down into smaller, more manageable pieces. Identify those pieces and tackle them one by one. 3. ⭐️ Prioritise: Not all pieces are created equal - some are more important than others. Identify those critical tasks and focus on them first. 4. ⏳ Timeline: No project can be conquered in a day. Set realistic deadlines for each piece of the puzzle, and give yourself the time you need to make it happen. With these steps, you can take charge of any project and make it your masterpiece. #Productivity #Efficiency #ProjectManagement #VantageForward

Project management lessons from the International Development space. #Lesson3: Intentionally Incorporate Lag Time in Your Project Plan. If you’ve ever experienced burnout while implementing a #project, you are not alone. We've all been there at one time or another. No matter the duration you have to complete a project, there should always be moments when you can step back, reflect on your progress, and take a deep breath. This allows you to learn from the tasks you've accomplished and gives you renewed energy to continue. It's like a swimmer in a 250m race; a brief pause to take a breather can make a significant difference. Similarly, the amount of break you can take depends on your project's duration and your team's expertise. I can hear you saying, “But my project #timeline is so tight, I cannot afford to take a break.” This is a common mistake I’ve made in the past, which is why it’s an important lesson to learn. From the beginning of developing your project plan, you should intentionally create lag time. Whether it’s one day, two days, or even a week or more, it depends on what your project timeline can accommodate. As simple as it may sound, having moments for reflection and lighter work is a crucial component in achieving project success. Have you ever experienced #burnout during a project? How did you navigate it? #ProjectManagement #Burnout #LagTime #ProjectPlanning #TeamSuccess #lessonslearned #Internationaldevelopment
