The European Digital Media Observatory has just released guidelines for the creation and implementation of effective media literacy initiatives. The guidelines feature 12 key principles to assist organisations and governments in the design of programs. AMLA is proud to endorse these guidelines which we see as essential to the implementation and evaluation of media literacy initiatives. #medialiteracyweek

🌟 Recap of CAIML #32: Unveiling SDCM with Peter Lenz Peter Lenz, Professor at the Philips Universität Marburg, Alemania introduced us to Signal Dissection by Correlation Maximization (SDCM). This Machine Learning method is used to identify unique gene expression 'signatures' in large datasets. I want to highlight the remarkable dataset from Dr. Ferdinando Pucci, OHSU. LDA-based detection of spatial neighborhoods (Nirmal et al. 2022) performed incredibly on it. In the past few days, I discussed registration and segmentation. Ultimately, those are means to an end. Where it gets exciting is when we can start diving into the spatial arrangement of different cell types and apply statistical methods to discover spatial biomarkers (amongst so many other things). It feels almost magical when a greyscale image is automatically transformed with a map overlay! SPATIAL supports this, any many other analyses. Today on #EuropeanMyelomaDay I'm very proud of the work Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is doing to highlight the disparities in trial access for myeloma patients across Europe. Patients in Central and Eastern Europe do not have the same options for taking part in trials - only 6% of the 3229 worldwide trials between 2001-2020 included patients from Central and Eastern Europe. The MPE clinical trial navigator provides the data on the current landscape of myeloma trials and where the gaps are. It shows that change is needed to improve access for patients. Help MPE raise awareness and drive change about the inequalities in clinical trial access.
