Last evening, I had the incredible opportunity to meet some of the most amazing entrepreneurs in the country at the Offline Pitch Day hosted by Venture Catalysts++ | India's 1st Multi-Stage VC in Kolkata. The event was a convergence of some of the brightest minds and the most disruptive ideas, all under one roof. It was a night that truly celebrated innovation, entrepreneurship and the spirit of resilience. The diversity and creativity of the pitches were astounding. From cutting-edge tech solutions to fast fashion to healthy eating to sustainability initiatives that promise to make our world a better place, the range of ideas was absolutely impressive. Beyond the pitches, the event cultivated an atmosphere of learning. It was inspiring to engage in discussions with these forward-thinking individuals, exchanging ideas and exploring potential synergies. As per data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, approximately 5,000 startups recognized under the Startup India programme have shut down. This accounts for nearly 3% of the 1.52 lakh entities classified as startups by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) as of October 31. Maharashtra leads in the number of closures with 929 startups shutting down, followed by Karnataka with 644 closures.
