As we approach the election next week, market uncertainty is at a high. Our CIO, Matt Dmytryszyn, CFA, shares his perspective on what this election means for clients. With tight races expected for both the House and Senate, and two candidates with divergent policies, a divided government appears most probable. Historically, markets prefer a divided government, which often brings fewer surprises and less volatility. Market Scenarios Post-Election: The election could bring short-term volatility, especially if results are delayed. In such scenarios, we view potential market dips as investment opportunities, allowing for strategic buys at more attractive prices. Our Approach: Rather than speculate, we are focused on long-term strategies that consider key factors like the potential expiration of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2025, influencing both tax planning and investment outlooks. At Miracle Mile Advisors, we’re here to guide clients through the coming weeks, helping them stay informed and prepared. Let's navigate this election together with clarity and strategy! As the 2024 election approaches, tax policy is front and center for both candidates. Kamala Harris proposes increasing the corporate tax rate to 28%, raising the capital gains tax to 28% for high-income earners, and extending the 2017 tax cuts, but only for those making less than $400,000. Additionally, she aims to expand the Child Tax Credit to $6,000 for newborns. Donald Trump, on the other hand, plans to make the 2017 personal tax cuts permanent, reduce the corporate tax rate to as low as 15%, eliminate SALT deduction limitations for more taxpayer relief, and increase the Child Tax Credit to $5,000 per child. Both candidates’ plans would likely increase the deficit, but the approach is key.
