Imagine only having 800k followers! Nice to put the spotlight on a micro-creator doing it tough on Youtube.

Loving these breakdowns, it helps to understand the nuances of YouTube thumbnails for example

Love the more simplified, raw and authentic thumbnail. These seem to be working well lately on YT.

-I love his thumbnail. A miserably relatable expression. Real sweat. Looks like a quick pick at the setting. Love the visual honesty of that. I’m guessing it’s his same clothes he has in the video? I like the visual honesty of that too. Kinda lets us know what we’re in for. - Con: I very don’t like the idea of people doing this on their own. I haven’t watched the video so I’ll assume he tells us how he’s being safe… but I very dislike people encouraging each other to go do dangerous things for views. I won’t even click if I think it’s a guy doing dangerous things alone for views and we’re going to have all these teenage boys monkey see monkey do-ing. So I hope he’s safe and leaning into click bait. Being “just a youtuber” dosnt mean running around doing dangerous things. Very not in love with that narrative. I am curious if that’s my Mom brain speaking or if other people will avoid clicking if they think someone’s being unsafe. No idea how to fact check that. But his thumbnail is 8/10 for me. Really good cover.

I wouldn’t call MrBeasts videos “survival” series LOL and it definitely was not the inspiration for this. Xander’s format leans more into the familiar Bear Grylls, Discovery/NG adventure POV/reality show that TV viewers have always loved (just look at the longevity of survival shows on these channels). If you do a side by side comparison - you’ll see a lot of the elements from these have been translated to work on Youtube - which is very smart nonetheless!
