Happy Friday! Another very busy/thorough week, but nonetheless great progress continues to be made. Some key highlights from this week include: - Significant progress towards achieving key work deliverables & deadlines within my role✅ - Continued collaboration/building of relationships with a range of different stakeholders, which is really helping me to achieve the above👏 - Starting to become a guidance for other colleagues/interns in the business - passing on my own experiences & knowledge where I can to help others 😎 - Nearing completion of my LUMA Practitioner course & assignments (hopefully gain accreditation for this next week)📚 - Personally, also going through the process of selling my own home & purchasing my next home with my other half, which continues to push forward (and is exciting!) 🏡 Of course, there are always obstacles/challenges that come in the way, but with high levels of resilience and the support of colleagues, stakeholders & leaders, I always stay positive and know that things will progress in the right way 💪 #Barclays #career #role #obstacles #relationships #success #development #deliverables

No knowledge is a waste! Reflecting on my journey so far has made me realize the truthfulness of this statement. In my pursuit of greatness, I've switched careers on several occasions. Each time I switch, my previous skills give me an unfair advantage and help me excel in my career. For instance, my legal background has given me strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good communication skills. These skills are an asset in my role as an organizational leader. They enable me to find solutions to the problems of organizations, communicate these solutions effectively to team members, and ensure that the process of execution is seamless and without errors. Proof that no knowledge is a waste. Hence, I am devoted to continuous learning and upskilling. Here's the real reason you didn't jump on the opportunity to lead the next project at work. You don't have the experience. You aren't sure everything that needs to be done when leading the project, let alone how to do it. You aren't confident in your skills. There are other people on the team who have the skillset that positions them to be much better project leads. It could be really bad for your career. You recall someone who got fired last month after the project they were leading wrapped up 3 months late. So you let someone else lead the project. Does this sound familiar? Instead, you pick up easy tasks that you can do quickly and well... ...but so can the people in a more junior position. Instead, you don't stretch yourself to learn new skills because you don't want to waste time figuring out and failing at something new... ...but it also means you don't develop the skills needed for your promotion. Instead, stay out of the spotlight and don't demonstrate your skills... ...but that also means your manager writes your performance review primed with an incomplete picture of who you are and what you're contributing.
