Folks- Your periodic #DisasterResponse reminder to please put the word out to your well-meaning loved ones and networks that CASH IS KING when it comes to how you can help, be it #LAwildfires or #HeleneRelief or any disaster. Your trash, or even items you *think* are helpful, actually create a logistical burden/nightmare. Your trash is NOT someone (in need)'s treasure! Good options include: Team Rubicon - American Red Cross - World Central Kitchen - Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation #SendCashNotTrash #DisasterManagement #DisasterRelief
To meaningfully support victims of the #LAFires, now is the time to donate MONEY to your favorite local charity. Do not clean out your closet, send a teddy bear, or setup a supply drive at this time. Cash fuels smart, real-time decisions and doesn't add to the chaos of an already immense tragedy. That time will come. Consider donating to Team Rubicon or signing up to #volunteer. Charity—whether through money, food, clothing, or toys—is a vital practice that we should make a regular part of our lives. In Islam, even a simple smile is considered an act of charity. It’s inspiring to see people dedicate their time and effort to something spiritually enriching while supporting those in need. Here are some key takeaways about charity and its significance in Islam. Charity helps alleviate poverty, reduce inequality, and strengthen bonds within the community, fostering a sense of mutual care and responsibility. Islam emphasizes that acts of charity, big or small, are significant in the eyes of Allah, as I said above even a smile can count as charity. In fact , Zakat(charity) is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, requiring Muslims to give a fixed percentage (usually 2.5%) of their wealth annually to help the needy, support social welfare, and promote economic balance. Charity is considered a way to purify one’s wealth and soul, reduce greed, and earn Allah’s blessings and forgiveness. The Qur’an and Hadith frequently promise immense rewards for those who give generously. Ultimately, charity benefits both the giver and the receiver, serving as a powerful means to foster a more just, fair, and compassionate society.
With Christmas fast approaching, I felt inspired to give back to the community in a meaningful way. I therefore personally took the lead in organising Christmas pamper boxes for women and children in refuge at Pennine Domestic Abuse Partnership (PDAP). This involved planning, coordinating donations, and working closely with Deborah from PDAP to ensure we could make a real impact for their clients in need. Our Family Department already work very closely with PDAP who are a key provider of domestic abuse services in Kirklees so it was incredibly rewarding to hear how much this will mean to the families at the refuge. Also, many thanks to the two offices that donated, we successfully gathered enough donations to fill four boxes!

One of the greatest outcomes of container deposit schemes is the social outcomes they provide. From extra funds to support families, employment opportunities for people experiencing barriers to employment, to fundraising opportunities for charities and community groups, the impact on communities is immense. Recently, Return and Earn Depot Operator St Vincent de Paul Society NSW teamed up with not-for-profit Green Connect Illawarra to collect and process containers from the Illawarra Convoy. Collecting over 3,900 containers, the event was a win for three not-for-profits and the Illawarra community. Read more at https://lnkd.in/gg3dKif8

Someone with children who could use free clothing, has entered the chat: While it's commendable that 18,000 children received a season of clothing, it's equally disheartening that so many are in need—and surely, another 18,000 children could use similar assistance. I've said it before: parents need livable wages, hours that allow them to care for and build relationships with their children, and safe neighborhoods. In the words of Al Bundy, “You can’t have one without the other!” The crime in our community is directly linked to poverty, which stems from a lack of advancement and opportunity for marginalized individuals. This cycle repeats as parents are overworked, underpaid, and stressed in a constant struggle for survival. We need career opportunities as holiday charity. Instead of toy trucks, we need career opportunities for Giving Tuesdays, rather than endless roundtable discussions about recurring problems. A career is the gift that keeps on giving. A promotion that recognizes those of us who have invested time in acquiring new skills and have spent years developing transferable skills can make a world of difference. For many families, ending poverty is just one job offer away.

While we will still be taking emergency applications for unhoused families, the Red Cross, CHOICES, etc. the Charity Newsies general assistance application is now closed. Three years and prior, we were able to keep the clothing assistance application open into December to serve up to 15,000 children. Two years ago, we reached our budgetary goal of 15,000 children right before Thanksgiving. Last year, we reached 15,000 on August 15 before Columbus City Schools even opened. We scrambled and raised money and bought clothes to reach 18,000, which we did on September 18. This year, we opened on July 29 planning to serve 18,000 children. As of 9:38 a.m. morning, August 15, 18 days since opening the application, we have hit our budgeted amount of 18,000 children scheduled to receive clothing or who have already picked up clothing.

Countdown is on.
The Variety Bash kicks off this year in the middle of Dubbo's Western Plain Zoo at Bash's Billabong and then heads north to Queensland, following the path of the original bash 40 years ago. Along the way, we will stop off at local primary schools, where Variety - the Children's Charity NSW/ACT will donate much-needed resources to help children in need. At each school, we dress up as Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers and hand out lightsabers to the kids. We love putting a smile on their faces. There are only three weeks until we head off to the 2024 Variety Bash. We can't wait to share our adventures with you! Show your support here ▶ https://lnkd.in/gKGh9P32 #varietybash #teamstarwars #starwars #fundraiser #adventure

Here is a lesser known tip I give to local governments and nonprofits when they are looking at entering FEMA's Public Assistance program. Document all volunteer labor and donations. Any donated services or materials that take the place of paid work can be used to offset the organization's future non-federal cost share. Let's say a city is running a congregate shelter. The value of all the volunteer labor used to run the shelter, provide services, sort donations, and prepare food can be used to buy down the non-federal cost share. Just make sure you keep detailed records of who volunteered, how long they worked, and what they did. Any donated materials that support the shelter count too. Just keep a list of everything that was donated and used. This could save communities thousands, but jurisdictions often miss this opportunity due to a lack of record keeping. #FEMA

Actions speak louder than words. While Advance India Projects Ltd (AIPL) shares heartwarming initiatives like donating warm clothes, it’s ironic how their actions towards investors and property owners tell a different story. Unfulfilled promises of assured returns, denials in handing over physical possession, holding illegal possession of shops, undervalued rentals, and the misuse of leasing rights have left many investors and property owners out in the cold. At a time when trust and transparency are needed most, AIPL continues to ignore long-standing issues and legitimate grievances. If AIPL truly wishes to spread love and care in the community, it must first address the mounting concerns of its stakeholders, who have endured financial and emotional distress due to broken commitments. Genuine community care begins with fairness, accountability, and honoring commitments—not just PR campaigns. It’s time for AIPL to match its social initiatives with ethical business practices. Real warmth comes from treating stakeholders with respect and integrity. #Accountability #Transparency #InvestorRights #TruthAndJustice #EthicsInBusiness #RealChange #Gurgaon #RealEstate #AIPL #AIPLjoydistrict #AIPLmasterpiece #AIPLjoycentral #AIPLjoysquare #earthsaviourfoundation #DLF #Sobhadevelopers #m3m #realestate #GurgaonProperty #realestatefunding #realestateinvestment
Thanks to your generous donations, our warm clothes have reached The Earth Saviours Foundation, bringing comfort and warmth to those in need. Together, we're making a difference! Your support helps us spread love and care to our community. #AIPLBusinessClub #AIPL #AdvanceIndiaProjectsLimited #CommunitySupport #CaringTogether #TheEarthSavioursFoundation
