Meta Haptics Studio now supports cross-platform export. With the 1.2 release, you can export your haptic assets as .ahap for iOS or .wav for VR or console systems that use PCM data an input e.g. Pico. Meta Haptics Studio and Haptics SDK have already solved many of the core efficiency issues around haptics development for Quest, but we know that cross-platform rework is a crucial and expensive aspect of app development. A prototype that I made a few years ago for an Oculus Go. The controller was minimalistic to say the least. But I could pair the headset with an Xbox controller. This was built using Unity. But these days I’m building everything for WebXR (ThreeJS, Aframe) - using only open source and browser launched. Porting a game to VR from mobile Android and iOS has several milepoints. One of them is adapting the user interface to the world space. We went through this at AmaginGames, and I want to say that yes, it was cool. We needed to choose the right path because the game has 3 different lobbies, many locations, a base builder and other UIs such as upgrading weapons and skills. Moreover, we only had 1 month to adapt the UI. Here we not only need to configure the UI settings for each location, but also make a transparent user-friendly transition and setup the camera on the fly. For example, the UI in the Lobby is static, but in the battle it moves according to the player's head. Moreover, I also optimized the demolishing system, so that VR players can shoot and break the windows. XWarShooter game can also be played on Meta Quest 2 without a PC. Not Recommended, Google Play Store is not just a store, the store is part of collection of services that work together to provide microservices to apps to function properly, with that said, you can't install google apps, such as Gmail, Calander and Google Keep, you can't run Discord, or play games that depend on google services for scoring, some apps won't work properly as intended such as Notion app. Microsoft apps work well though, but I recommend using Meta's browser for everything that has a web app version.
