♻️ Demystifying Mindful Regeneration: Circular Design ⭕️ Circular Design is a regenerative approach that focuses on reducing waste, reusing materials, and minimising environmental impacts throughout a product's lifecycle. This concept promotes closed-loop systems, where resources are kept in use for as long as possible, and waste is eliminated or minimised. 🟢 Some examples of Circular Design in action include: 🏢 The Circular Buiksloterham district in Amsterdam, where a circular economy is mandatory, featuring buildings designed for disassembly and material reuse. 🏫 The Catford Town Centre redevelopment in London, incorporating a 'circular hub' for repairing, reusing, and recycling materials. 🏛️ The New Raw, a Dutch design studio that transforms electronic waste into circular furniture and products, showcasing the potential for upcycling and reducing landfill waste. 🌃 Why is Circular Design important for city redevelopment? Embracing circular principles helps cities reduce resource consumption, minimise waste, and promote sustainable economic growth. By integrating Circular Design into urban planning, cities can foster innovative solutions for a more resilient, resource-efficient, and low-carbon future. 🧩Next up: Passive Solar Design. We'll discuss how this ancient yet effective approach harnesses solar energy to heat, cool, and light buildings naturally, improving energy efficiency, comfort, and environmental sustainability. #CircularDesign #MindfulRegeneration #SustainableMaterials #ClosedLoopSystems #CircularEconomy The Mindful Regenerist Reniera O'Donnell Niall O'Cleirigh Steve Fernandez Matthew Gawn Ruta Lukosiunaite Arie Voorburg Hira Shaffaq

From Sustainability to Regeneration For years, sustainability has focused on reducing environmental harm, typically associated with green practices like solar panels and LEED certifications. However, while sustainability reduces our environmental footprint, it doesn't repair the damage already done. Regenerative design goes further—it actively heals and enhances ecosystems, communities, and economies. Unlike sustainability, which seeks to do “less harm,” regenerative design focuses on creating net-positive outcomes, leaving environments and communities better than they were found. This holistic approach considers entire systems—energy use, social well-being, and more—offering creative solutions that improve resilience and promote thriving communities. Rakan Jandali, our Design Principal, recently shared his insights on this transformative approach with Commercial Interior Design(CID), emphasizing how regenerative design shapes not only the built environment but also the future of our communities and natural systems. https://lnkd.in/dj2vAP6F #RegenerativeDesign #SustainableDesign #EnvironmentalImpact #GreenBuilding #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #NetPositive #Architecture #InteriorDesign #DesignInnovation #FutureOfDesign #EcosystemRestoration #CommunityDevelopment #ResilientCommunities Special thanks to Holly Byrne and the team

While there are a number of ways in which we can ensure that new construction is built to minimise carbon consumption, with sustainability standards and recommendations making this information widely available, we must recognise that a bulk of our population still live or work within existing buildings. It therefore becomes pertinent to look at ways in which these can be made more sustainable. I recently shared inputs with Times Internet on crafting environmentally mindful spaces infused with sustainable principles. From watercycling on a community level to retrofitting, there are a number of simple ways in which we can work towards sustainable living. In an era where sustainability is the buzzword, a revolutionary approach is taking root in the real estate sector: regenerative design. Unlike traditional sustainability, which focuses on minimizing harm, regenerative design aims to restore and enhance the environment through thoughtful development. Regenerative design goes beyond reducing negative impacts; it seeks to create positive ones. This innovative approach integrates living systems into architectural projects, ensuring that buildings and landscapes contribute to the health of their surroundings. By mimicking natural processes, regenerative design fosters biodiversity, improves soil health, and enhances water quality, creating self-sustaining ecosystems. Key principles of regenerative design include using renewable energy sources, prioritizing local materials, and designing for resilience in the face of climate change. Projects often incorporate green roofs, rain gardens, and natural ventilation systems, reducing reliance on artificial cooling and heating. Additionally, regenerative design emphasizes the importance of community engagement, encouraging local participation in the planning and maintenance of these spaces. https://lnkd.in/dUZkDCu3 #nikhilpattaniofficial #nikhilpattanirealtor #NikhilPattani #destiniva #destinivarealty #scholarsTakshashila #vernaculararchitecture #architecture #sdg #sdgs #sustainablelifestyle #sustainable #sustainableliving #sustainablebuilding #green #ecofriendly #realestate #mulund #home #dreamhome #affordable

🌿 **Inspired by Nature: The Future of Sustainable Housing Communities** 🌿🕊️🪹 As I observed a bird meticulously constructing its nest, I couldn't help but marvel at the simplicity and efficiency of its design. Using only natural, locally-sourced materials, this tiny architect creates a safe, comfortable home. This got me thinking: what if we could apply these principles to our own housing communities? Sustainable housing isn't just a buzzword—it's the future. Just as birds build their nests with environmental harmony, we too can create homes that are eco-friendly, resource-efficient, and seamlessly integrated with our natural surroundings. Imagine communities where: - Homes are built with sustainable materials that blend with the environment. - Energy efficiency is maximized, reducing our carbon footprint. - Green spaces are abundant, promoting biodiversity and enhancing quality of life. - Water and waste management systems are designed to minimize impact. By looking to nature, we can find inspiration for innovative solutions that address today's housing challenges. Let's champion sustainable development and work towards communities that not only meet our needs but also preserve our planet for future generations. Together, we can build a future where sustainability is at the heart of our homes. 🌍🏡 #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #FutureOfHousing #EcoFriendly #NatureInspired #SustainableLiving #Architecture #Innovation #BiodegradableHomes #EnvironmentalSolutions #NatureInspiredDesigns #FutureOfHousing

Copenhill: Creative and Eco-Friendly Business Architecture: Copenhill is a trailblazing illustration of how to combine sustainability and business design 1. Waste-to-Energy Plant Integration: Copenhill cleverly combines outdoor recreation areas including a climbing wall, hiking trail, and ski slope with a waste-to-energy plant, exemplifying the merging of leisure and environmental responsibility. 2. Sustainable Practices: By converting garbage into electricity and offering community recreational areas, the project exemplifies sustainable practices and illustrates a comprehensive strategy for environmental stewardship. 3. Green Roof Design: Designed in partnership with SLA Architects, Copenhill's green roof showcases an inventive approach to urban vegetation by promoting biodiversity, filtering air, and reducing heat. 4. Urban leisure center: Copenhill redefines the idea of industrial spaces by converting a conventional power plant into an urban leisure centre. This project shows how such sites may fulfil a variety of functions while still being environmentally responsible. Copenhill is a great example for companies that want to incorporate community involvement, environmental sustainability, and creativity into their projects. #businessdesign #designthinking #sustainability #environmentalsustainability
