Compliance with the Underground Injection Control (UIC) Program under the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Title 40 CFR Part 146 Subpart H is critical for the permitting of Class VI wells for CO2 Capture, Transportation, and Storage #CCUS projects. These projects face the risk of severe corrosion and stress corrosion cracking challenges due to low pH, high chloride content, and impurities. Selecting Corrosion Resistant Alloys (#CRA) is crucial, considering pH, temperature, pressure, and impurities. Proper metallurgical processing and expert consultation are essential for long-term durability.   Most importantly, #corrosion modeling is now a requirement for the use of lower Cr alloys (generally less than 22% Cr) under these Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.   OLI Systems provides process modeling software solutions to predict impurity levels, corrosion rates, and optimize material selection to enhance well integrity, environmental safety, and compliance with #EPA guidelines. Learn more about the essential role of computational modeling in CCUS planning and how OLI solutions can support the process in our latest blog by Vineeth Ram. https://lnkd.in/eBFpu-Zh
