End of March we gave a free webinar. If you missed it and are interested in wind turbine aeroelasticity, please let us know and we can send you the slides, with some additional comments to cover what was verbally explained during the webinar. The e-mail address is in the picture, we will not use your details for anything else, only for sending the slides.
In these slides we explain what whirling modes are and why they exist, then edgewise instabilities, starting with the basic aerodynamic explanation, but continue with the relevance of torsion: what influences the amount of torsion in the edgewise mode and how does this affect the damping of the mode. The phase of the torsion is found to be very influential, therefore it is also be explained where this phase comes from and which parameters change the phase in which way. Finally also the edgewise instability during idling is shortly discussed.

9moWe have a pretty interesting detection method in the works. LE erosion is capable of reducing turbine efficiency by quite a bit. Not to mention the greater chance for fluid/contamination ingress into the blade laminate.
