We’re excited to announce that our brand #GOLDBEEF took home five #medals at this year’s World Steak Challenge in Amsterdam! This global #competition is the ultimate stage to show off quality, processing standards, and breed characteristics, and our steaks went head-to-head with the best in the world — again! Our #Simmental ribeye stole the show, winning Gold, and we also brought home Silver and Bronze for our filet and roastbeef. 🥇🥈🥉 This breed may have its roots in Switzerland, but it has truly made its home in Southern Germany, where we proudly produce GOLDBEEF at our Buchloe and Waldkraiburg facilities. Willi Habres, our Director of National Sales, summed it up perfectly: “This is a huge recognition of the quality of GOLDBEEF, our production standards, and our commitment to delivering the best to customers at home and abroad. We’re especially proud to have done so well across all categories from both production sites!” We can’t wait to officially #celebrate at the awards ceremony in London this November. After a significant period of #leadership, Ronald Lotgerink will step down as #CEO of Vion Food Group and hand over to CFO Tjarda Klimp at the end of this year. Under Ronald's guidance, Vion has successfully navigated through a crucial part of its #transformation towards becoming a fully chain-driven company. Tjarda, who has been part of the Vion executive board since 2021, brings with her a strong agricultural background and extensive international management experience. Samenwerking voor een betere toekomst voor onze medewerkers. We zijn trots om onze samenwerking met het Informatiepunt Noordoost-Brabant aan te kondigen! Sinds gisteren is het mobiele team van het Informatiepunt aan de slag bij Vion. Woensdag hebben wij hen verwelkomd bij onze locaties Vion en Encebe Vleeswaren, waar zij een rondleiding hebben gekregen. Met deze samenwerking kunnen we onze medewerkers, en met name arbeidsmigranten, direct ondersteunen met onafhankelijk advies over wonen, werken en leven in Nederland. 🌍 Dank aan het team van Informatiepunt Noordoost-Brabant voor hun inzet en betrokkenheid. We kijken uit naar de samenwerking en de positieve impact die we samen kunnen maken! 🤝
𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 Wij hebben een unieke rondleiding gekregen bij twee locaties van Vion: Vion Food Group en Encebe Vleeswaren. Voorafgaand hebben we kennismakingsgesprekken gehad met Roy Paalman, Kelly Loosemore en Sharon van Lijsdonk. MVO-thema’s, waaronder voedselveiligheid, klimaat, biodiversiteit, werkgelegenheid en arbeidsomstandigheden staan hier hoog in het vaandel. Tijdens de rondleiding kregen we een goede inkijk op de werkvloer van de werknemers. Vanaf aanstaande donderdag gaat het mobiele team van het Informatiepunt Noordoost-Brabant bij Vion Food Group aan de slag. De medewerkers kunnen met hun vragen over het wonen, werken en leven in Nederland/Noordoost-Brabant terecht bij onze Poolse en Roemeense consulente. The Future of Meat Consumption in Germany: Insights from Vion Consumer Monitor 2024 📊 Discover the latest trends in #meat consumption with the Vion Consumer Monitor 2024, our comprehensive survey that captures the preferences and priorities of German households. Here are the key findings: 🥩 Made in Germany: Nearly 40% of German households consciously choose German meat products, reflecting the strong trend towards regionality. 💶 Willingness to Pay: While regional meat is highly valued, only 61% are willing to pay a premium for it. 🌍 Sustainable Choices: Transparency and sustainability continue to be crucial, with 65% preferring sustainably produced meat and 60% seeking information on animal welfare. 🥗 Balanced Diet: Despite a decline in per capita meat consumption, 68% still plan to include meat in their regular diet over the next three years. The perception of meat as an essential part of a balanced diet is growing, with 55% believing in its health benefits. 🚀 Last week, we introduced the new virtual reality "pig goggles" at our Crailsheim facility. Developed by Peter Menzel (C.O.M. GmbH Wetzlar) and Benito Weise (Landwirtschaftskammer Niedersachsen), these VR goggles let us see the world through the eyes of pigs. 🐷 👓 Since 2021, we've been using VR googles that simulate the visual perception of cattle. Now, we're expanding this innovative approach to include pigs. By experiencing the animals' perspective, we can enhance our understanding and improve animal welfare. 💡 We use these innovative goggles to train our staff and animal welfare officers, as well as to optimize construction measures in our slaughterhouse facilities. Our team is amazed by the insights gained, allowing us to create better living conditions for the animals and strengthen animal protection. Dr. Veronika Weber, Veterinarian and Director Quality Assurance & Operation Vion Germany shared her thoughts: "The effect of the VR goggles was simply incredible. All participants reported having a much better understanding of the animals and how they move. Vion is the first to succeed in calculating the CO₂ footprint of pork from a large group of pig farmers at farm level with actual data. 📊 Vion initiated and commissioned the development of the CO₂ footprint calculator, which was developed together with data company ImpactBuying. With this calculator, Vion provides insight into the total CO₂ emissions in the production chain of pork products. 🐷 Through cooperation with all chain partners, emissions can be identified and reduced at each step. This has resulted in the total CO₂ footprint of Vion pork production for Dutch retail now being visible. Want to know more?
