#donateblood Did you know that every two seconds someone in the U.S. is in need of a #blood #transfusion (over 43,000 people every day!)? I donated blood earlier this month during the #BloodDrive at the statewide headquarters for the Colorado Department of Transportation (#CDOT),a #GreatAgency in the #government of the #GreatState of #Colorado that supports the important work of Vitalant and others in the national #blood network. This year, 2024, marks the 47th year of blood drives at CDOT with Vitalant and its predecessor, Bonfils! When I googled "Why is it so important to donate #blood" there was an abundance of terrific answers – if you have never donated, please consider this one: “Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer.” I encourage everyone to donate blood! If you have never donated, please consider doing so; and if you have donated, thank you, and please keep up that good work in the future! As the World Health Organization (WHO) noted: "Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — the gift of life. Over the last four years, I've donated my hair twice to support cancer patients. Each time, I’ve been reminded of the power of small actions in making a significant impact. As I plan out my year, there are two dates that have been on my mind. The first is February 20th, which marks 5 years in remission for my child who battled Stage 3 Neuroblastoma, a deadly and devastating cancer. If our last round of scans goes well, my child will be considered 'cured'...I struggle to even type the word! The second date is Sunday, April 7th, which marks our 5th #Run2Cure in the Domain. This year, my child can participate in the run, thanks to the amazing work of our Oncology team. However, we owe a lot of credit to #TEC member Lucy Jones and Neuroblastoma Australia, who have played an incredible role in funding important research into this rare and terrible childhood cancer. Our goal this year is to raise $5k...for 5 years. Help us make this year a big one by getting involved in any way you can. Here are some ideas: 1. Join our team and come run/walk with us! You don't have to be a fitness fanatic to join. It's a beautiful walk/run around the Domain. 2. Donate what you can. Remember any donation above $2 is tax deductible! 3.
