As a writer, I enjoy listening to great stories, especially personal journeys. This interview of Kristy Kim, founder of TomoCredit, fits the bill- she discusses coming to the US to study, staying to work and eventually founding her own business. Her personal anecdotes are very worthwhile! Note: there are some ads on the platform, but are worth navigating through to get to nuggets of information. #startups #storytelling #ipos #immigrants #buildingcredit #finance

Really interesting read by Andrew Chen (Andreessen Horowitz ) about the difference in how founders think and pitch in the Bay area compared to Europe. Would love to hear some thoughts on this from European founders & VC’s.

Our CEO Andrew Wolfson and CIO Jamie Kennell recently featured in Wealth Club's 'Meet the Manager' series. In the interview, Andrew and Jamie offer valuable insights into Pembroke VCT's investment strategy for 2024, the current status of our portfolio, and the VCT's overall performance. Additionally, they provide updates on a few of our portfolios such as LYMA, Seatfrog, N Family Club, and Secret Food Tours. Some key takeaways include: 1. We seek out entrepreneurs who have a thorough understanding of the industry they intend to disrupt and are leveraging technology to create innovative solutions. 2. We place great emphasis on the qualities of the individuals who lead the businesses we invest in, as well as their ability to adapt and grow. 3. We offer our portfolio of founders access to each other, allowing them to share insights and collaborate on building successful businesses. Thank you Wealth Club and Jonathan Moyes for conducting the interview and sharing this insightful discussion. Watch the full video here: https://lnkd.in/evQBsrE6

Imagine you are an angel investor, excited at the opportunity to attend a demo day and hear talented founders pitch their vision for a chance to win $000 in prize money One after the other, they paint a picture of the future that could be and how their products will disrupt industries from healthcare to finance. There is a founder with an idea close to your heart who has pitched impressively but light on financials so you ask: ❓ "what are your gross profit margins?" To which he responds 🔊 "we are not profitable yet." The conversation goes on for a few minutes after which you switch off, realising this founder has no idea about financials and doesn't know the difference between the different type of margins As a judge on the panel, what are the chances this startup gets top votes from you?
