R U OK 💛 | Today presents an opportunity and reminder for us to come together – not just now, but regularly - to check in on the wellbeing of our colleagues, family, friends, and neighbours. To let the people we care about know we're here, to really hear them.
At PF, when it comes to genuinely listening with an open mind, we are inspired by Otto Scharmer's Four Levels of Listening. These levels can be powerful tools in fostering meaningful connections and understanding.👂
1️⃣ LEVEL 1: Downloading
At this level, we hear what we expect to hear. We're not truly open to new perspectives. This #RUOKDay, let's challenge ourselves to move beyond preconceived notions and judgments, creating space for genuine conversations.
2️⃣ LEVEL 2: Factual Listening
Here, we focus on gathering information, facts, and data. While it's important, it often lacks the depth of empathy. This #RUOKDay, let's not just ask if someone is okay; let's dig deeper, seeking to understand their emotions and experiences.
3️⃣ LEVEL 3: Empathic Listening
This level is about truly connecting with others. It involves listening with an open heart, empathising with their emotions, and seeing the world through their eyes. This #RUOKDay, let's practice empathy by offering a shoulder to lean on and a compassionate ear.
4️⃣ LEVEL 4: Generative Listening
The highest level of listening involves tapping into our collective creativity. It's about co-creating new possibilities and solutions. This #RUOKDay, let's not only ask if someone is okay but also collaborate to find ways to support each other's well-being.
Let's use these levels of listening as a roadmap to connect on a deeper level with one another, ensuring that every day is a day that we’re here, to really hear, because a conversation could change a life. 💛
