Today marks International Women's Day. 💗 A day where we celebrate women's achievements. At Fly, we are passionate about providing women with a safe space, where their dreams and ambitions are closer than they once believed. We are not just a brand; we're a community where female fighters are seen, heard, and respected. We're committed to making the world of combat sports a welcoming and empowering space for all women. Women's sports have come a long way over the years. Evolving from being insignificant and overlooked to becoming a thriving industry with many role models and influential athletes being ‘household names’. There is still more we can do in helping to reshape the social attitudes towards gender inequality in sports. Challenges for women in the industry are still rife. In recent years we have seen more headlines around the topic of “The first women to..”. However female athletes continue to demonstrate strength, resilience and determination, helping to inspire the next generation. Here's to us 💗

Business should reflect on this at exec level

With March Madness (2024) coming to an end, let's take a moment to reflect on the representation, participation, and growth of female athletes in sports. According to recent statistics, the average final four tickets for women in 2024 were priced at $2,300. This begs the question: what can we do to improve media representation, participation, and growth for female athletes in sports? As we commemorate International Women's Day #IWD2024, the partners in the European Union funded WINS project are thrilled to unveil the results of this groundbreaking three-year initiative aimed at improving the recruitment, retention and engagement of women sports officials (#referees, #judges, #umpires etc). The WINS partners are proud to introduce the Women Sport Officials Toolkit, a comprehensive resource designed to empower sport organisations in their quest to recruit, retain, and engage women officials. One of the biggest barriers to girls' participation in sports is simply not having access to spaces. Tomorrow (March 8th) is International Women's Day, a day recognized and celebrated by indviduals, organizations, communities, and governments around the world. As this day approaches, what are you doing to celebrate the women in your life? What are you doing to remove barriers and promote progress? How are you contributing to the creation of accessible spaces for young women, whether in sports, academics, or elsewhere? I am proud that - over the past 18 months - I have helped launch a girls' basketball program that creates a space for up to 48 young women to play basketball, develop leadership and life skills, and make friends every week. Regardless of where you are or what resources you have, take a moment tomorrow (and every day) to reflect on the role you can play in advancing opportunities for young women in your community.
