Energy Delivery is a business that requires a very high level of human performance made up of skill, experience, and operational qualification to be done safely, efficiently, and affordably. The men and women who work on energy lines do not always come home to their families after their work shift. Fatalities are an unfortunate reality in the energy business. One of the legacies of the Alexis Podesta “Net Zero” era of California energy was that, for some reason, the industry “dumbed down” the entry level assessment requirements to make it “easier” to obtain the position on multiple fronts. #WhoIsAlexisPodesta 🤔 When I was the San Francisco Peninsula Area Safety Chair, during the San Bruno years, I found out that 48% of the company’s seasoned first responders were already eligible for retirement in 2010. Fast forward fourteen years later and all that traditional experience has left the building and are enjoying their hard earned retirement. The problem is, PG&E did absolutely nothing to retain that vital knowledge base and, instead, made it much easier for hopeful candidates to acquire the safety critical position of “first responder” in the company. #This was a perfect storm of the loss of 48% of the traditional experience in the workforce and a “dumbed down” training curriculum and onboarding process that would put the safety of California energy workers and consumers at unnecessary risk for no apparent reason. But that’s none of my business anymore. PG&E made sure of that. 🐸☕️

There is so much wrong in this statement that I hardly know where to start. “Clean energy is an opportunity to create long term economic growth” is a statement of pure fan fiction. A more accurate statement would read, “renewable energy sources are an important supplemental part of our energy supply even though they tend to come with limits compared to traditional primary energy sources and increase energy costs” No one should have a problem with Apex or renewables in general but everyone should have a problem with anyone perpetuating the lie that “renewable energy can drive long term economic growth”. Physics say otherwise.
More and more communities are recognizing: clean energy is an opportunity to create long-term economic growth. The benefits of wind and solar go beyond payments to landowners and tax revenue for schools and emergency services—these projects bring business activity to local areas, supporting everything from restaurants to young workers looking to begin their careers.

Per Forbes: "The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a new $24 million funding opportunity to support #workforce training programs with a focus on training for clean energy jobs that do not require a four-year degree. Under the banner of the Biden Administration’s Investing in America agenda, community colleges, trade unions, and labor management partnerships can now apply for funding to establish Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs).
