Marine cargo insurance and Global Cargo Watch List (GCWL). The latest version of GCWL - Version 226 of JCC's GCWL as updated on 11 October 2023, is as per the below link: https://lnkd.in/ddWzuV-T The risk rating of Israel stands at 3.2 (very high risk) and Palestine at 4.6 (severe risk). As these are contiguous territories with similar characteristics, how come the risk rating is so skewed? And in such cases, do cargo insurers take cognizance of GCWL while deciding to grant cover? NB: As a human being, I hope and pray that both nations resolves their differences fast, so that citizens of both countries can live peacefully.

VTA State Conference looks into the many ways to focus on the future Held at Silverwater Resort at San Remo, Victoria, the three-day conference unveiled the numerous ways that the transport industry can prepare for a prosperous future. Following a pre-conference event that included a sit down chat between VTA CEO Peter Anderson and Senator Glenn Sterle, where discussions began about the recent Closing the Loopholes Bill and the ongoing skilled worker shortage, the opening morning kicked off with a bang courtesy of Anderson, who delivered the keynote address. “We selected Future Freight Landscapes as the theme as it’s important not to neglect the future,” Anderson said. “I want to focus on how we maintain our roads to a standard where it’s not costing us time in repairs and maintenance to trucks and servicing customers in order to use the available roads. “We propose changing the process. We have over 420 slow down spots in Victoria right now. The reality is we can do this better by forward planning, dedicated road crews and a future focus on planning 15 to 20 years ahead with road maintenance. “We want to keep plugging the holes and it’s not good enough, so the VTA is pushing the conversation to make road maintenance a forward-thinking regime.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/giCPRTQ7 #unavin #roadsafety #compliance #VTA

From my observations, it appears that the vessel lost power twice and therefore could not steer away from the support beam of the bridge. My question is that how well were the maintenance processes of the vessels put into place? This is what the investigation will uncover.
The #FrancisScottBridge over Patapsco River collapsed after being hit by the 10,000 TEU vessel Dali, chartered by A.P. Moller - Maersk and deployed on 2M Asia-US East Coast service. ❗ ❕ Read the whole story below:

One of the common messages today from ourselves in the CTTC, our colleagues from across the industry including Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann and the Go Ahead group is the vast number of opportunities that exist throughout the industry including drivers and mechanics. Apprenticeships offer excellent opportunities for young people interested in a rapidly evolving field of expertise that will be vital in helping our country to achieve our 2030 emissions targets. We also discussed the need for an equitable approach by government to fare reduction initiatives, the need for changes to VAT rules to support the transition towards more sustainable and accessible fleets and traffic management interventions to improve efficiency and reliability of services through more biased road share and better facilities for coach tourism and event travel in all major cities and towns.

Rest area proposals now in the hands of federal transport minister Just nine rest area proposals were put forward by state and local governments for funding assessment at the latest meeting of the Albanese Government’s Heavy Vehicle Rest Area Steering Committee. Of those, only “five or six” were assessed as “very worthy” by the committee which comprises of Senator Glenn Sterle as chair, four industry representatives and five truckies. Sterle told Big Rigs that two of those proposals were sent back to the sources for more information, and one was deemed not worthy of going any further. Those proposals to get the tick of approval now go to Transport Minister Catherine King who will decide which ones will be the first to get the green light with regional projects funded on an 80/20 basis (federal/state), and metro pitches a 50/50 split. The Australian Government has committed $140 million over 10 years to support new and upgraded heavy vehicle rest areas within this initiative, under the Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program. https://lnkd.in/gJABNsaP #unavin #nhvr #HVNL #compliance #transportminister #roadsafety
