I had the pleasure of attending an insightful talk by Professor Sir Ashley Bloomfield KNZM CMInstD, who shared some profound thoughts on leadership and trust. Here are a few key takeaways that really stood out to me: 🔹 Leadership as an Invitation: True leadership invites collective action. It’s about listening, working together, and fostering a sense of community rather than just telling people what to do. 🔹 Navigating Challenges: Leadership's about persevering through challenges and learning from setbacks. It's not a failure if things go wrong; it's a failure if we don't learn and adapt. A good quote that I liked was "fail fast should be renamed to learn fast" 🔹 Building Trust: In a time of declining public trust, open and honest communication is crucial. We need to tell people what we know, admit when we don’t know, and hold ourselves accountable. Consistency and reliability are key. 🔹 Empowering Others: The best leaders empower others. Leaders should be values-driven, emphasising humility, accountability, and a willingness to change when presented with new evidence. Sir. Bloomfield also touched on the use of AI in healthcare as a potential solution to alleviate some of the burdens on the healthcare workforce. I think the interesction of technology and health is an interesting area to explore, and could clearly have dramatic impacts on our society. Thanks to Cambridge Australian and New Zealand (CUANZ) Society for hosting the event! 👏

'Leading from the Field;: Leadership Development Programme for Rights-Based Organisations For some time, Sujatha Rao and I have been thinking about how we could support small, grassroots, community-based, rights-based organizations.Since both of us come from a leadership development, organization development, ecosystem development competency, mindset and bias, it was natural, we would develop a leadership development programme. 'Leading from the Field' intends to support leaders build and lead resilient organisations. The programme has 3 supporting structures 1. Master Classes Sessions from leading experts on fundraising, social media communications, financial risk management, building partnerships, working with the state, etc. 2. For 14 weeks starting from August 2024. It is a hands-on programme, and you will be expected to work on complex organizational problems, your leadership competencies during and after the sessions. Social Enterprise Expert | Helping purpose driven leaders achieve resilience and sustainability by working with them to improve their organisation and impact | SOS Health Check £2000 | Impactful Leaders Network £15/month
🤱 A week today the first Mums in Leadership (www.mumsinleadership.co.uk) networking event will have launched! This is something Anna Bollinger and myself have been working on over the last few months and we're super excited that it's just around the corner. There's still plenty of time to book on so keep reading to find out why you should: 🌟 You are a Mum in Leadership - We want to create a space for Mums in Leadership where we can support one another connect together, collaborate effectively and champion one another and other working mums. 🌟 You want networking that isn't late afternoon, evening or early morning. - We get it, and we've got you! Our events will always be mindful of the things that come with being a mum (you know, like... bedtime, getting kids to school in the morning, juggling work with childcare). 🌟 Sometimes no matter how you plan you just end up with the child in your arms (or on your knee) whilst attempting to work. - When the best laid plans fall through, you don't even need to ask us if you can bring your child. The answer will ALWAYS be YES! 🌟 You're children are grown up and have flown the nest. - We still want you to be a part of this. You have wisdom you can share and if you're leading a team it's sometimes good to be reminded of the things to consider when dealing with young mums. 🌟 You are tired of people behaving like the Motherhood Penalty isn't really a thing and you want to see some change! - Us too! And we believe that as leaders we can be an important catalyst to that change, starting with Sheffield. We want Mums in Leadership because we're the ones that can implement change through decision making, management and policy. If we can step up, we can make it better for all working women. 🌟 You just need some solidarity in a safe space where you can share the issues that impact you, - Oh there are sooooo many. Any of this feel familiar? If you are nodding your head and are a Mum in a Leadership position or running your own business, get booked onto our event in Sheffield. Check out the comments for the Eventbrite link so you can book on today! 👇 #mumsinbusiness #sheffieldbusiness #mumsinleadership #leadership #motherhoodpenalty #femalefounders #femaleleadership #socent

Celebrating International Women's Day with spiritual growth and leadership focus? 🌈 Psychedelics as a catalyst for women's personal growth and leadership 🌈 Emerging research suggests that psychedelics, when administered in safe and controlled settings, may offer unique benefits for women looking to advance in leadership roles. Reduced anxiety and depression: Studies indicate that psychedelics like psilocybin can significantly alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression – common obstacles hindering women's professional growth. (See: Griffiths et al., 2016) 🍄 Enhanced self-awareness: Psychedelic experiences may promote deeper self-understanding, facilitating the identification of personal strengths and areas for development – crucial for authentic leadership. 🍄 Increased creativity and problem-solving: Research hints at psychedelics' ability to boost creative thinking and novel problem-solving approaches, assets for navigating complex leadership challenges. (See: Kuypers et al., 2016) While further investigation is needed, these findings suggest that psychedelics may be a powerful tool for women seeking to: ☀️ Overcome self-limiting beliefs ☀️ Develop greater emotional resilience ☀️ Embrace a more authentic and impactful leadership style It's important to note that: Psychedelic-assisted processes should only be undertaken with appropriate medical and psychological supervision. At Eudelics we offer the possibility to assist with the transformational work in a professional, legal, and safe environment. Interested in learning more? Founder of The People Company Consulting Group | Diversity and Inclusion Consultant | Certified Coach | Professional Speaker
🌟 The PCCG Impact 🌟 What’s better than being told about a process? Being shown its results, of course. At The People Company Consulting Group, we have worked with numerous organizations, especially those in the healthcare, manufacturing, and higher education sectors, to create and improve their DEI policies and practices. While our testimonials speak for themselves, we also have results that show the TPCCG framework to create inclusive and thriving environments work. In 2019, we worked with a youth arts center to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders to gather input and feedback on how to value and center diversity. Here’s what the center has achieved since then: 🎉 Partnered with 30+ culturally and artistically diverse youth organizations 🎉 Hired a diverse nine-member team 🎉 Appointed diverse board members and organizational leaders 🎉 More inclusive decision-making processes and policies At The People Company Consulting Group, we’re committed to driving positive change and building inclusive communities. Helping businesses to retain & engage employees with sustainable HR solutions. Strategy, Support, Guidance | Recruitment & Retention | Training & Development | Employee Experience | EDI
Compassionate culture and leadership in organizations fosters a supportive environment that can significantly enhance employee well-being, retention, and productivity. It encourages open communication, empathy, and understanding, leading to a more engaged and motivated workforce. This culture not only benefits individuals by addressing issues like burnout but also contributes to the overall health and success of the organization. #compassionateleadershipcoach #leadership #traininganddevelopment #synchronyhrconsulting
#SundayReads: How do we bring compassion into organizations and entire sectors? Start with a powerful theoretical framework and get to work applying it. The best compassionate leadership framework is the original, from Monica Worline and Jane Dutton in “Awakening Compassion at Work.” The authors write on how to build compassionate culture to address the tragic burden of burnout in Canadian healthcare. The beauty of this article is that while the authors utilize a strengthened compassion culture to address their specific concern - burnout among Canadian healthcare workers - one can easily see how it will apply in a multitude of contexts. How do you want to strengthen compassion where you are? Read the discussion paper in ETCHWork by Breanna Wodnik and Paula Rowland: https://lnkd.in/e-EJpvk8. #CompassionateCulture #CompassionateHealthcare #CompassionateLeadership #CompassionInAction
