In the last few days I have completed my review work of part of the applications for the CERN-Solvay Education Programme. I was thinking today how grateful I am to be able to help with this phase of the review process. So many applications reached us for this incredible program designed to engage students, from all over the world, in exciting education content related to the scientific activities conducted at CERN. Personally, it was a pleasure to read the multiple motivations baseline for learning through the dual process: online and on-site. So many voices, personalities, backgrounds and places emerged from those anonymous profiles. I read about those who, with a rich portfolio of experiences, applied for this program, with the awareness of being able to bring in their own preparation; I read about those who wrote with eyes full of dreams about our laboratory and its scientific activities, following an unforgettable previous site visit; I read to the enthusiasm of the very young people, just 16 years old, so happy that the new cipher opened up for them, among others, this incredible opportunity. I read about the high aspirations of some, who humbly write because they feel that their provincial city has only offered them limited opportunities for prizes and competitions. But over all, diagonally, I sensed the desire to learn and share, to offer one's contribution and to gain experience in a group; to be excited by the present and have faith in a future, in a future that is open and international and worth exploring.
