Let's continue where I left off on the topic of on-premises SAP CRM. In my previous posts, I discussed the benefits and limitations of this solution. Now it is time to take a look at migrating from SAP CRM 7.0 to SAP Sales and Service Cloud, which can be a decision for those who want to be ahead of the curve. And when it comes to such a migration, it is essential to make certain everything goes well. Let me share with you my opinion on what you should expect if you hire an external team for this task (there is no doubt you can find it more preferable to rely on your own team, but this time I am going to focus on a third-party team approach). So here is what you should expect from an external team to perform for you in the framework of migrating from SAP CRM 7.0 to SAP Sales and Service Cloud. • 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. To begin with, they should ensure compatibility between the existing data model in your legacy SAP CRM and the data structure in the new SAP Sales and Service Cloud. After that, they extract the necessary data from the former and make it suitable for the latter. • 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The next step is to configure and customize SAP Sales and Service Cloud to fit your company's business processes. • 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Next, they build connections to other SAP solutions you use. The integration process can also include third-party applications. • 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Another step is to perform detailed testing and validation of the accuracy and completeness of the data after migration. • 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭. Finally, after the migration is completed, they monitor system performance and quickly address any issues. This is a summary of what you should expect from a third-party team, so don’t forget to ask them about it in advance. #SAP #CRM

🌟 New Learning Journey: Hands-On with SAP CRM! 🌟 It's been quite a while since my last post, and I’m excited to share something new that I’ve been learning and working on. Recently, I had the opportunity to get hands-on with SAP CRM, a powerful tool for managing sales, sales orders, and contracts. 🔍 Deep Dive into Sales Orders: One of the key areas I’ve focused on is understanding and investigating sales orders. For any organization, business success hinges on sales performance, so having a correct understanding of the sales orders created for our customers is crucial. As a business analyst, I enjoy analyzing various aspects of sales orders that impact the business. The specifics of this analysis can vary based on requirements, but here are a few core elements I look into: Sales Order Details: This section provides general information about the customer, including bill-to party, ship-to party, and sold-to party. You can find this information in the “parties involved” section in detail. Items Section: Here, I investigate different types of items in the sales order (SO). Depending on the bundles, I take various actions. For instance, in my organization, we have orders maintained in both SFDC and the SAP system. I analyze each item to decide actions like canceling advanced care if it’s already in the SFDC system to avoid duplication or adding advanced care where needed. Transaction History Block: This section links various documents. I focus on this block to review maintenance or subscription contracts, which further aid in my analysis. 🛠️ Customization and Personalization: SAP CRM offers a wrench tool that allows you to modify the layout and personalize it according to your requirements, making it a versatile tool for different business needs. 🚀 Exploring More: This is just the beginning! I’m eager to delve deeper into different aspects of SAP CRM and would love to hear from other professionals about how you are using this platform. Let's discuss and share our insights to learn and grow together. Feel free to share your experiences and tips in the comments. Looking forward to a fruitful discussion! Setting: Coffee Shop Characters: Sivakumaran Ramalingam (Siva) - PeopleSoft ERP Service Provider Keerthi Vasan (Keerthi) - Salesforce ERP Service Provider Siva: (Smiling) Keerthi! Fancy seeing you here. Care to join me for a quick coffee? Keerthi: (Sips coffee) Hey Siva, always good to bump into you. Actually, this project implementation with Eastern Textiles is giving me a headache. Siva: (Raises eyebrow) Eastern Textiles? Weren't they considering PeopleSoft? Keerthi: They were, but they ended up going with Salesforce. Their needs seem like a good fit for a cloud-based CRM system like ours. Siva: Interesting. PeopleSoft offers strong CRM functionalities as well, especially for larger organizations with complex needs. What specifically swayed Eastern Textiles towards Salesforce? Keerthi: They were impressed by the user-friendliness and scalability of Salesforce. Eastern Textiles has a growing sales team across different regions, and Salesforce seemed like a good option for managing customer relationships efficiently. Siva: That makes sense. PeopleSoft excels in back-office operations like inventory management and HR, which might not have been a top priority for Eastern Textiles at this stage. Keerthi: Exactly. It seems like a good case of choosing the right tool for the job. How are your PeopleSoft implementations going these days? Siva: Busy as always! We're working with a large manufacturing company, and the level of customization PeopleSoft offers is proving invaluable for their specific needs. Keerthi: Different strokes for different folks, right? Well, good luck with your project, Siva. Maybe we can grab lunch sometime and discuss the ever-evolving ERP landscape. Siva: Sounds like a plan, Keerthi. Enjoy the rest of your coffee!
