[🚨𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐎 𝐎𝐍 - 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐏𝐎𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓] Sharing the latest episode of "2063: An AI Odyssey" podcast, where we dive deep into the evolution of personal spaces from reality to virtuality, inspired by my recent article "𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬: 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲." In this episode, I join forces with my AI co-host, Aiya, to explore how our understanding of personal space is transforming in the digital age, particularly as we step into the metaverse. Some of the key topics we covered: 🔍 The impact of Edward Hall’s proxemics on our understanding of personal spaces, and how these concepts are being reimagined in virtual environments. 🌐 The introduction of new personal rights in the metaverse: the right to be seen, the right to be heard, and the right to be touched—rights that will define our autonomy in digital spaces. 🧠 The concept of "The Law of the One" and how it could revolutionize the way we manage personal rights across both physical and virtual realms. 💡 The role of advanced human-machine interfaces (HMIs) like Elon Musk’s Neuralink and the "Internet of Senses" in creating immersive, multisensory experiences in the metaverse. 🎧 To listen on Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dT6fvGjv 🎧 To listen on Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/dFDTbzty 📖 To read the full article: https://lnkd.in/d9h6aP-Z ➕ To subscribe to the newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gA6-yvpB Excited to hear your thoughts on how personal spaces and rights are evolving in this new digital frontier! #PersonalSpaces #AIOdyssey #Metaverse *Disclaimer: This podcast was published in the author's personal capacity. Last week we announced the 2024 AI and Games Conference, and speaking on behalf of the organisational team we're super happy with the reception it has received. Over on the Branching Factor podcast, I sat down with George E. Osborn to discuss how we got to where we are - and by we I mean Duygu Cakmak, Alan Zucconi, Matthias Siemonsmeier, Gabriel Robert PhD and us - and then discuss a number of topics: - The origins of the event and why we wanted to put it together. - The forming of Game AI Events CIC - The big branding question: do we call it the AI and Games Conference? - The importance of setting out our mission statement of building an event for the Game AI community. - The logistical challenges we had in putting this together in a relatively short timeframe. Yesterday I was talking with Kati Price about her keynote at next week's Digital Works Conference, Kati will share some brilliant insights and thoughts on how cultural organisations can arrive at better conversations and solutions around their digital work. Shortly before that chat, I was listening back to the conversation I had towards the end of last year with Adam Stoneman for the Digital Works Podcast (that episode will be out soon). There was something in both of those conversations that I think was encapsulated in a quote Adam shared from Henry David Thoreau in which HDT (as I'm sure he was known to his pals) described technology as "an improved means to an unimproved end" (he was worrying about trains at the time). Too often it seems that the question around the 'why' remains unanswered, not engaged with, or that an outcome has been decided on before a proper conversation has been had, and that feels particularly accute in digital projects ("let's use AI", "let's do a VR project", "let's be on tiktok"). It's encouraging that people like Kati and Adam are pushing for better, deeper conversations around these topics that will, in turn (I think), lead to better, richer, more successful, more valuable work. I hope that the conversations we will have at next week's Digital Works Conference, and through the chats I have on the podcast, help us to start to workout what our 'improved ends' might look like.
