As an organisation, we support #yes23. It is our time as a country to unify and lead from the heart, let’s embrace this opportunity for reconciliation with faith and trust. We work with many Aboriginal communities on country, who believe in the voice as an opportunity for recognition and empowerment, an important step in national reconciliation. As one of the Aunties on Mapoon has told me many times, there are so many reasons to focus on our differences and to fear one another, we need to come together as a country as a community and believe in bringing each other together and reaching up. There is no future with national debates focussing on division and fear. #yes23 #voicetoparliament

We were privileged to assist Shellharbour City Council to develop the Bass Point Conservation Management Plan finalised in 2024 and accessible here https://lnkd.in/gaBMKKfD A CMP identifies: The heritage values or significance of a place The conservation policies to be applied to protect that significance A strategy by which the policies will be put into action. Virtus Heritage worked with community members and key stakeholders including Illawarra LALC to develop this plan, to assist Council to protect the significance of Bass Point and protect it for future generations. #basspoint #conservationmanagementplans #heritagematters

Investing in our people and culture are important and we had a wonderful annual conference at Virtus Heritage, this year held at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat, Villas and Lost World Spa & Conference Centre on Yugambeh country. Thankyou to Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre for Aunty Erica’s welcome to country and David’s didgeridoo music to kick off an amazing three days. Thankyou to Paul Fairweather for a great BOLD BRAVE BETTER masterclass to inspire and light the creative fires in our team. We shared learnings on projects to continue to improve and develop our processes and to listen to one another’s perspectives and feedback. This is our special time to come together and take time to reconnect with our team who are across Northern Rivers NSW, Sydney, Cairns, Wollongong and Hervey Bay and having fun in a beautiful venue. #boldbravebetter #creativethinking #virtusheritageannualconference #virtusheritage #northernnsw #oreillysrainforestretreat #jellergul #yugambehcountry

Virtus Heritage has travelled north to Rockhampton for the annual Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) Heritage Conference. This brilliant initiative sees industry, local government, state government and academia combine for an important conversation around the future of cultural heritage management in Queensland. Virtus Archaeologist, Tara Chilcott, enjoyed the sights of the beef capital while having some great discussions with heritage professionals from local governments from across the state. Thanks to Rockhampton Regional Council for hosting this memorable event! #LGAQ #rockhamptonregionalcouncil #virtusheritage
