A new Foresight Institute blog post outlines the top three proposals for AI governance institutions from the Existential Hope Hackathon we co-hosted. The top three proposals for institutions to harness AI's benefits, while mitigating its risks: 1. The Flourishing Foundation's "systems-thinking and life-centric design approach": Operationalizing interdisciplinary research, supporting innovators, and building movements toward conscious technology creation. 2. Global Deliberation Coordinator (GDC): Aimed at convening a "representative microcosm of the planet", to keep "humanity in the loop" for decisions made by international organizations, companies, and governments. 3. Transformative Simulations Research Institute (TSR): Uses simulations to investigate potential trajectories from transformative AI, offering policymakers and technologists "crucial foresight" about "cognitive patterns, social dynamics, and ethical issues" that may arise from advanced AI. Read more at the link in the comments below! 📸 The winners of the Hackathon, the Flourishing Foundation team! Chiara Gerosa (Impact Academy), Amanda Ngo (Ex-Ought), Mingzhu He 赫明珠 (Collective Intelligence Project), and Jelena Luketina.

Come check out this panel on AI for Social Good if you're in NYC on Tuesday! "Social good" may trigger the opinion that "oh, well if we just align to these x, y,z standards, then we'll be ok". But it's SO complex. It's not just about aligning standards but aligning incentives and stakeholders across multiple sectors. And maybe most importantly, being able to balance and still take action when an alignment of perspectives might not happen. Led by Azadeh Jamalian, Ph.D., an educator I've long-admired, this discussion will bring together builders and experts across industry while also being relevant to any parent who's wondering what this all means.
