What are some of the nerdy travel advisor questions we ask when confirming a beach villa or overwater bungalow for clients? 🌊 Beach villas: How much foliage is between the villa and the beach? Is there a hedge? Resorts do this for privacy, but also may limit ocean views. We need to know exactly what this looks like for you! Overwater bungalows: How far apart are the bungalows from each other? Can you see into other villas? (You’d be surprised how close some of them are…) Are they on the lagoon side or facing the open water? For those on the West Coast, French Polynesia (often just called Tahiti after its main island) is a great alternative to Hawaii—just an hour longer flight, but you can arrive by 9am and start your day on the beach! Have you ever been blown away by how beautiful a beach is? It could be somewhere in the Indian Ocean, Australia, The Caribbean, or perhaps the good old UK. Wherever it is, there is something quite magical about sitting on the beach listening to the waves lapping on the shore. I have many favourites but ones that immediately spring to mind would be (perhaps predictably) in The Maldives and Mauritius. In 2022 I took the family to Siyam World and Olhuveli Beach Spa and the beaches were quite simply stunning. I was also privileged to go on a “business trip” to check out the Beachcomber Resorts in Mauritius, and again the beaches were something else. However, if I were to pick 3 beaches I haven’t visited, but know about, I’d choose: Matira Beach, Bora Bora – renowned for its picture-perfect stretch of soft white sand fringed by swaying palm trees. Superb for snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs with an abundance of tropical fish. Whitehaven Beach, Australia – known as one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, with dazzling white sand and brilliant turquoise waters. Anse Source d’Argent, Seychelles – on the island of LaDigue, it is somewhat different from your average beach, with unusual granite rock formations, shallow lagoons, and powdery pink sands. For those who would prefer to not trek across the other side of the world, there are some stunning beaches in the UK. For example, Bamburgh Beach, Northumberland; Woolacombe Beach, Devon; Rhossili Bay, Wales; and one of my favourites, Mudeford in Dorset.
