The No.1 hiring mistake? Hiring for experience. Experience = great, right? Well, not always. First, great candidates that have the exact "experience" you're looking for are rare. Second, experience doesn't always = performance. Instead, focus on understanding the candidates: - What motivates them? - What are their values? - What are their past accomplishments? - Do they have a fire in their belly? Hire based on potential.
