For this edition of #SidekickStories , we're shining a light on our senior OOH manager, Miguel , who diligently leads the OOH managers for the Fora portfolio.   👋   I'm Miguel Rodrigues.   📍I'm originally from a city called Mangualde, located in the Dão-Lafões central region of Portugal.   🏢 I joined Sidekick in 2020, when we took over the TOG portfolio (now Fora), as OOH Manager, to look after ten sites. Then COVID hit, and everything was shut down. We were moved to the daytime, completing checks at sites and supporting our client. A few months later, when operations came back to life, I started taking control of the evening operations, with the help of supervisors, which was great as I was able to walk through all the sites and familiarise myself with them.   📆 By March 2022, everything was back to normal; the sites were busy, and all areas were divided once again between three OOH managers. In July 2023, I was promoted to Senior OOH Manager responsible for all the OOH managers for the Fora Portfolio.    🌟 I would say my most significant accomplishment is really getting to know most of the staff on site and watching those teams and managers become successful.   🏔️ The biggest challenge I've faced? Personally, I prefer to say that there are no 'big' challenges, only different ways to deal with them.   🌎 What I enjoy most about working at Sidekick is being able to speak with people from different cultures who speak different languages, and the opportunities for people to grow in the business.   👨👩👦👦 My 'big leap' ambition is to see my two kids succeed and to buy a house back home in Portugal where I can see out my old age. #smallstepsbigleaps #peoplemakeplaces

Sharing PR involving me in my own page, the Chinese in me feels kinda awkward. But what I feel is true, is worth reiterating. There is, to this day, still a huge gap between the buy-side's digital ideal, vs sell-side's practicality concerns, for the pDOOH business. Without getting into the what's and why's and epic tragedies, a simple desire to make both buy and sell sides simultaneously happy, consistently monetizing, makes a tiny service company existentially indispensable. Many display-tech companies focus on delivering value to the end-users/equipment-buyers, and often rightly so. But in the media business, the clients are the ad-buyers, and they want to buy their proper audience, delivering their creatives through contextualized inventories carried by the medium. What a mess, a confluence of parties and value propositions. Tis also what makes this business fun.

Retail Media makes up about a fifth of global digital adspend or around 140billion. According to emarketer it is growing more than 20% a year. Empowering digital commerce players to address this amount is huge!
