Vistry Group have partnered with Beyond Housing UK to deliver 106 sustainable, affordable homes in Stockton. “The project, part of the £169M Summerville Meadows development, includes 75 homes for social rent and 31 for shared ownership, with construction set to begin in late 2025 and completion by 2028.   The development will feature energy-efficient designs, including enhanced insulation, air-source heat pumps, and electric vehicle charging points, reducing CO2 emissions by over 43%. The homes will be surrounded by green spaces, with easy access to the Castle Eden Walkway.   Andrew Rennie of Vistry North East said: “Our Summerville Meadows development will create a new community of mixed tenure homes that provide housing quality and choice for local people - specifically suited to their varied needs and requirements.”   We are looking forward to the opportunities this project will bring to Stockton.”

The project, located off Fordham Road, will include 80 homes for private sale under Linden Homes, along with 59 affordable homes. These affordable homes will consist of 45 one, two, and three-bedroom properties for affordable rent, and 14 two and three-bedroom homes for shared ownership. The development will be energy-efficient, featuring electric vehicle charging points and many homes equipped with solar PV panels. Approximately 40% of the site will be designated as public open space, including two play areas and a footpath around the neighbourhood. Additionally, the project will invest in local infrastructure, contributing financially to improvements in education, roads, bus stops, and libraries. The site will also provide land for a new community building and 11 self-build plots. This sustainable development will deliver high-quality homes, making a positive impact on the local community.

Which model of collaborative housing offers the best solution to the housing crisis? This paper is the first in-depth analysis of 8 cases of collaborative housing in two countries. Co-authored with Mirte Jepma and Alessandro Coppola (Polytechnic of Milan) it compares housing projects in Milan and Amsterdam. It shows two main things: First, affordability is not everything, and needs to be studied according to autonomy and accessibility. Autonomy is crucial for collaborative housing because it allows to maintain affordability. Accessibility is important, because affordable housing cooperatives, for example, may be enclaves. Second: the proof of the pudding is in the way each housing project COMBINES affordability, autonomy and accessibility. Yet, developer led collaborative housing projects too often fail on all of these (with one exception in our paper). The table shows the main analysis and the project studied. Work to begin on city’s new Riverside Park 🌳 An ambitious project to transform swathes of land spanning both sides of the River Wear into a new city centre park is set to get underway. Esh construction has been appointed by Sunderland City Council to lead on the first phase of Riverside Park, situated at the heart of #RiversideSunderland. One of the UK’s largest urban regeneration projects, Riverside Sunderland is a multi-billion-pound project breathing new life into the city’s former industrial heartland. The official ground-breaking ceremony for Dream's new residential development, #Odenak, took place on November 15 in LeBreton Flats, Ottawa. According to the partners involved, it will be "much more than a residential development" featuring integrated affordable housing, green building practices, and comprehensive social programming. We are pleased to share that we have now exchanged contracts with Homes England to deliver 750 new homes on the site of the former City Hospital on Dudley Road in Birmingham. This transformative regeneration project will blend affordable, private, and rental homes to meet the city's growing housing demand.   The development will preserve the historic infirmary frontage by converting it into apartments, while also creating up to 8,000 sq ft of commercial and community space. With 35% of the homes designated as affordable, the project aims to provide more people with access to quality housing in a sustainable and vibrant community. Additionally, the plan includes significant improvements to local infrastructure, along with new public spaces and a park for future residents.   Phil McHugh, Managing Director of Vistry North West Midlands said: “This major regeneration scheme will transform a challenging brownfield site into 750 high-quality, mixed tenure homes and new commercial uses, bringing valuable investment to the city.”   This project is a key part of ongoing efforts to regenerate Birmingham and provide high-quality, affordable housing for the community.
