Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that affect the optic nerve of your retina, which is the nerve responsible for transmitting images to your brain . When fluids continue to build up in the front part of the eye, it causes a rise of pressure in the eyes (intraocular pressure) which later damages the optic nerve. Today is World Glaucoma Day. Glaucoma is a set of eye diseases that destroys the optic nerve – the nerve present in the back of the eyes. This can lead to blindness and vision loss. Getting a comprehensive dilated eye exam can help in detecting the presence of glaucoma. Talk to your primary care manager or optomotrist today to discuss glaucoma. Glaucoma, if detected in the early stages, can be prevented.

Today is World Glaucoma Day. Glaucoma, or the ‘sneak thief of sight’ as it’s commonly called, refers to a group of eye diseases that damage your optic nerve, causing irreversible vision loss, often without any symptoms. You can take preventative measures through regular eye screening that inspects your intraocular pressure, optic nerve, central and peripheral vision, and thickness of your cornea. #WorldGlaucomaDay2024 #bettervisionforall Find out more about glaucoma at https://ow.ly/Mcru50Qj1u8 and our research at https://ow.ly/RTNJ50Qj1u9

[What is #Glaucoma?] Glaucoma is a chronic disease that can damage the optic nerve. The optic nerve supplies visual information to your brain from your eyes. Over time, the increased pressure can erode optic nerve tissues which may lead to vision loss or even blindness. If it’s caught early, additional vision loss is preventable. Glaucoma can be detected by a fundus camera. Learn more on this page: https://lnkd.in/eTqHDfeR

Glacoma, silent thief of sight. Yes, "Glaucoma, the silent thief of sight," is a common phrase used to describe the condition's insidious nature. Glaucoma often develops slowly and painlessly, with few noticeable symptoms in the early stages. As a result, many people may not realize they have glaucoma until it has already caused significant vision loss or damage to the optic nerve. By the time symptoms such as peripheral vision loss or tunnel vision become apparent, the damage to the optic nerve may be irreversible. This is why regular eye exams and screenings are crucial for early detection and treatment of glaucoma. Once vision loss occurs due to glaucoma, it cannot be reversed. However, with early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, further damage to the optic nerve can often be prevented, helping to preserve remaining vision and maintain overall eye health. Schedule an eye check up today. #Optometristwriter #maintainghealthyvision
