How does nutrition change when caring for someone approaching end of life? In this CarerHelp blog, Jessica Jong from the @Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre explains a Clinical Dietitian's role in supporting end-of-life care and how to care for someone's nutrition as they approach end of life. "When it comes to eating and drinking at end of life, our biggest goals are to promote comfort and quality of life, rather than to maximise nutritional intake." Read more ➡ https://lnkd.in/gAxMBRUC

Executive Director @ Iowa Heart Foundation | Chapter Executive @ Iowa Chapter - American College of Cardiology | Non-profit Management, Public Relations
Do you know how much hypertension is costing your company? Employers face higher healthcare costs from employees with hypertension than those without hypertension. The CDC shares that high blood pressure costs the United States about $131 billion each year, averaged over 12 years from 2003 to 2014. Or maybe the question is do you or someone you love have high blood pressure? Actually, I am not sure why I even pose that as a question versus a statement because according to the CDC: Nearly half of adults have hypertension (48.1%, 119.9 million), defined as a systolic blood pressure greater than 130 mmHg or a diastolic blood pressure greater than 80 mmHg or are taking medication for hypertension. About 1 in 4 adults with hypertension have their hypertension under control (22.5%, 27.0 million). High blood pressure is the force of your blood moving against the walls of your arteries. So when your blood pressure is too high, your heart is on overdrive in a sense. Over time, elevated blood pressure can weaken your heart, blood vessels, kidneys and other parts of your body. May is National Hypertension Awareness Month and I invite you to join Iowa Heart Foundation for this month's #IowaHasHeart webinar on the relationship between sodium and hypertension. It is 45 minutes of your day that just might jumpstart something that could add so much more than those 45 minutes back to your life! Register: https://bit.ly/4akplvE

Food isn’t like medicine. It is medicine. “We know that the average primary care physician visit is 18 minutes. That’s not nearly enough time to dig into the complexity of the gut. And not to mention, most physicians receive less than 20 hours of nutrition training during medical school,” Ellen Rudolph, co-founder and CEO, WellTheory. At HLTH USA 2023, our session 'Gut Feelings' delved into the vital role of gut health - the hidden cornerstone of overall well-being, silently orchestrating a symphony of vital processes within our bodies. It's time we look into putting food and nutrition on the prescription pad, and helping people recognize that their gut health is directly impacted by what they eat. Ready to rethink your health from the inside out? 🍎 Join us at HLTH USA 2024 for more insightful sessions on the future of healthcare 👉 https://ow.ly/6oHX50SKoMm #HLTHUSA #GutHealth #Nutrition #HealthCareInnovation

Suboptimal nutritional adherence in adolescents with cystic fibrosis (awCF) has been associated with lower lung function. AwCF often have more independence in dietary decisions than younger children, yet little research has examined how adolescent decision-making relates to nutritional adherence. This study explored whether components of adolescent decision-making involvement facilitate enzyme and caloric adherence in awCF: https://lnkd.in/eVsyTeuj

Our approach as a mobile wound care provider integrates a patient-centered care model by prioritizing both wound healing and nutrition in treatment plans. We begin with comprehensive nutritional assessments to identify deficiencies that may hinder healing. By collaborating closely with dietitians, primary care physicians, and other specialists, we develop personalized, holistic care plans tailored to each patient's needs. We emphasize the importance of nutrition in wound care through clear communication with patients, caregivers, and the broader care team, ensuring everyone understands the role of key nutrients in recovery. Regular follow-ups and monitoring allow us to adjust treatment as necessary, including recommending nutritional supplements when needed. This approach ensures that our patients receive comprehensive, multidisciplinary care, leading to faster healing and better overall outcomes. #PatientCenteredCare #WoundHealing #NutritionInWoundCare #AdvancedWoundCare #HolisticHealth #MobileWoundCare #ChronicWounds #HealingWithNutrition #MultidisciplinaryCare #CollaborativeCare
