Exciting news from Jumeira University. Dr. Mounir Dhibi extended a warm welcome to our distinguished guests: Muna Tahlak, CMO of Dubai Academic Health Corporation, Khadija Alsulaimi, Assistant Director of Nursing at DHA, Professor Ann Marie Cannaby, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Health at Coventry University, Craig Blyth, Strategic Head at Coventry University's School of Health Sciences and Yunus Muliyar of Singularis.
In an era where the global healthcare sector is facing unprecedented challenges, our focus at Jumeira University aligns perfectly with the pressing needs of the industry. World Economic Forum predicts a global shortfall of 10 million healthcare workers by 2030. This shortage is not just a global concern but resonates significantly in the Middle East.
According to projections, Egypt will require an additional 48,000 healthcare staff by 2030. In the UAE, a substantial gap of roughly 15,000 nurses and allied professionals is foreseen in Abu Dhabi, along with a need for 6,000 physicians and 11,000 nurses in Dubai. Meanwhile, with its rapidly growing population, Saudi Arabia is poised to recruit an additional 175,000 medical professionals by 2030. The Kingdom specifically needs 69,000 doctors, 64,000 nurses, and 42,000 allied health professionals like paramedics and osteopaths.
Jumeira University is committed to addressing these critical gaps in the healthcare workforce. Our collaboration with partners like Coventry University is strategically geared towards revitalising the Allied Health School at Jumeira. By aligning our programmes with local and international standards, we aim to bridge these workforce shortages and contribute to the broader goal of advancing healthcare quality in the region.
This visit is a pivotal step towards fostering impactful collaborations that will play a crucial role in meeting future healthcare demands.
“It's not just about education; it's about shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals who will contribute significantly to addressing these global workforce challenges”—stated Dr Mounir.
