"I will build a prototype for everything!" Maybe not the best option! How virtual testing can improve your development efficiency! 👇 While creating a physical prototype for every development stage might seem thorough, it’s not always the most efficient approach. Instead, leveraging virtual testing and system emulators can significantly accelerate your development process. Here’s how Model-Based Design with virtual prototypes using MIL, SIL, and HIL can revolutionize your workflow: 🔧 Model-in-the-Loop (MIL): Test algorithms early in the design phase without any hardware. This allows for rapid iterations and immediate feedback, reducing the risk of costly design errors lately in the project. Furthermore, it can directly be started with closed-loop software development and testing without the availability of prototypes. 💻 Software-in-the-Loop (SIL): Execute the same tests as MIL but with compiled code instead of models. This ensures your production code works as expected, bridging the gap between algorithm design and implementation. ⚙️ Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL): Validate your system’s performance by integrating actual hardware components with simulated environments. This helps in catching integration issues early and ensures your final product meets the required standards. Benefits: ✅Speed Up Development: Virtual prototypes allow for parallel development and testing, significantly cutting down the overall development time. ✅Cost-Effective: Reduce the need for multiple physical prototypes, saving on material and production costs. ✅Enhanced Accuracy: Early and frequent testing catches errors sooner, ensuring a more reliable and robust final product. ✅Flexibility: Easily tweak and adjust designs without the need for costly rework on physical prototypes. ✅Risk Mitigation: Identify and resolve potential issues in a virtual environment before they can damage the real product. ✅Fault injection testing: Inject and test your system against faults without possibly destroying the prototype. ✅Automated Testing: When combining MIL, SIL and HIL with CI it can be automatically tested on each commit. ✅ Reusability: Tests and the physical models / Digital Twins that are developed can (partially) be reused across MIL, SIL and HIL. What kind of testing are you using to enhance your development? Let's discuss! Driving Innovation in Safety-Critical Testing: Razorcat’s Expertise in Tackling Complex Challenges ➔ A Responsibility Beyond a Task When it comes to safety-critical embedded systems, testing is more than just a task – it’s a responsibility. At Razorcat, we’ve spent decades refining our understanding of what makes testing in fields like automotive, aerospace, and medical devices so unique. ➔ Navigating Regulatory Landscapes From navigating complex regulatory landscapes like ISO 26262, which governs functional safety in the automotive industry, to mastering intricate test coverage metrics such as Modified Condition/Decision Coverage (MC/DC), we tackle the most demanding challenges in safety-critical software. ISO 26262 requires a thorough verification process, including specific coverage levels depending on the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL). Achieving MC/DC is essential, especially for higher ASIL levels, to ensure that every decision point in the code is tested for all possible outcomes. It’s these nuances in safety compliance and rigorous test coverage that form the backbone of our testing approach, allowing us to confidently address the toughest requirements in your development projects. ➔ Our Unique Approach What sets us apart? It’s the way we approach every challenge, combining technical depth with hands-on experience. Whether it’s ensuring compliance with the strictest standards or tackling the complexities of ASIL D projects, we know what it takes to achieve robust and reliable outcomes. ➔ Commitment to Continuous Growth Testing is evolving, and so are we. Our commitment to excellence drives us to continuously expand our expertise. This means staying ahead of emerging industry standards, adopting the latest testing methodologies, and refining our approach to address new challenges in embedded systems. Whether it’s through hands-on projects, collaborating with industry leaders, or presenting at global conferences, we make it a priority to push the boundaries of what’s possible in safety-critical testing. ➔ Connect with Us Live Want to learn more? Meet our team live! Join us 📍 this week at embedded world Exhibition&Conference North America (Booth 1823-B, Austin Convention Center, 8-10 October), or catch us at the ESE Kongress - Embedded Software Engineering Kongress in Sindelfingen 📍 this December. 🔧 Embracing Design for Testability with BIST Technology! 🔧 I am excited to share my recent work and experiences in the field of design for testability, specifically focusing on Built-In Self-Test (BIST) technology. BIST is revolutionizing how we ensure the reliability and functionality of integrated circuits by embedding testing mechanisms directly into the hardware. By integrating BIST, we can significantly reduce testing time and costs while improving fault coverage and detection. This approach not only enhances the quality of the final product but also streamlines the testing process, making it more efficient and effective. A big thank you to everyone who has supported and guided me through this journey. The insights and skills I have gained in BIST technology are invaluable, and I am eager to apply them to future projects and challenges. Looking forward to advancing further in the field of design for testability! #BIST #DesignForTestability #VLSI #Semiconductor #HardwareTesting #Innovation
