"All the Beauty in the World" by Patrick Bringley is a true darling at S&S. Everyone in its orbit has been charmed by Patrick's personal and profound story of joining the security ranks at the The Metropolitan Museum of Art 🏛️ where he immersed himself in art as a means to cope and heal with his brother's death. It's both an insider account of one of the world's great cultural institutions and a resonant meditation on life, death, family, art, creativity, friendship, and healing 🖼️ And readers agree! Now five weeks (and counting) on the 'New York Times' bestseller list and a Barnes & Noble, Inc. pick for the holidays, "All the Beauty in the World" is deservedly finding its readership and will be a story that connects with people for years to come 🫶 It's also finding its audience on the socials 📲 with one of our clips compiling 600,000+ views, 15,000 shares, 9,000 saves, and 600+ comments 🤩 A classic case of complementary book publishing with so many departments sharing in the success: sales, production, editorial, publicity, marketing, video. Thanks to Ingrid Carabulea for leading the video approach (and patiently enduring my Temple of Dendur jokes) with guidance of Sara Waber, Justin Cook and Sharon Van Meter 📹 Psst 🤫 it's a GREAT gift idea for just about anyone on your list 🎁 #books #bookpublishing #videomarketing #marketing

The American Alliance of Museums (AAM) has published a collection of fifteen papers exploring the future of voluntary repatriation, restitution, and reparations, as part of their Next Horizon of Museum Practice project. The project aims to guide museums through a strategic process of assessing current situations, envisioning "preferable futures," and ultimately determining how to achieve these goals. See, for example, "What's #Provenance is Prologue" by Marc Masurovsky. https://buff.ly/4i4XWTB

We created a wisdom hotline for Citizens like you to share your wisdom on how to live in the 21st century and beyond. We are collecting wisdom now and will be deploying it in the future. Think wisdom time capsule. Call the number below and leave your wisdom for future Seekers to hear.
We had hundreds of people play the Treasure Hunt the first weekend of may. It was great how fast some people solved clues and got to the locations. Sometimes in less than 10 minutes. We also had a blast partnering with MoMa to bring people into the museum for free museum day. It feels good to do good in your community and meet so many interesting people. Next up: a hotline for citizens to give wisdom to one another.

This story in the Scotsman should be National news across the UK. We know that times are really tough for museums the length and breadth of the country right now - but when a National flagship museum is talking about closing a site in the capital then it's clear the conversation about the crisis of museum funding needs to be amplified. We need to have a serious talk about the future for our cultural institutions and strategies to secure it. https://lnkd.in/eMGC_FUF
