Pride Month may be over, but this is where the real work begins! 🌈💕 Recognise that our responsibility to be true allies to the LGBTIQ+ community needs to continue every day. Here are four steps we can take to be better allies: 1️⃣ Educate Ourselves: Continuously learn about LGBTIQ+ issues, histories, and experiences. Knowledge is the foundation of understanding and empathy. 2️⃣ Speak Up: Challenge discriminatory comments and behaviours when we see them. Silence can be perceived as complicity. 3️⃣ Support LGBTIQ+ Voices: Amplify the voices of LGBTIQ+ individuals and support their initiatives. Representation matters. 4️⃣ Create Safe Spaces: Foster environments where everyone feels safe to express themselves authentically, whether at work or in our communities. Let's commit to these actions and ensure that our colleagues, friends, and family from the LGBTIQ+ community are heard, feel safe, and can hold hands in public without shame. 💘 #LGBTIQ+ #TalentQuarter #Inclusion

"As we celebrate Pride Month, I've been reflecting on the phrase 'Nothing for us without us.' Recent events have shown me the importance of this mantra. Well-intentioned allies planned events for LGBTIQ+ individuals without consulting them, resulting in hurt feelings and disregarded emotions. While building allyship is crucial, we must do so without causing harm. Let's center the community at the table and listen to their voices. It's not about what we think is best for them, but about amplifying their needs and desires. In this month of Pride, let's celebrate freedom on their terms, not ours. Let's acknowledge the struggles and resilience of LGBTIQ+ individuals and support them in their fight for equality. Let's strive for true allyship, where we listen, learn, and amplify the voices of the community. Together, we can create a more inclusive and compassionate society for all. #PrideMonth #NothingForUsWithoutUs #Allyship #LGBTIQPlus"

June 1st is the start of Pride Month For me, what is Pride? What does it stand for? 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈 P People R Respecting I Inclusion D Diversity E Equality 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈 It shouldn't be a month. It needs to be 24/7 365 days a year. The LGBTQI + community (Diversity) continues to suffer from discrimination, hate and exclusion from society. In some countries, to identify as LGBTQI can lead to the death penalty. It is crucial, that we use Pride to promote awareness and recognition of LGBTQI people, and what they can give to society. Stop the pink washing. Be an active Ally, and empower yourselves to shout out against hate and discrimination to this community. #pride #Equality #diversity #Inclusion #Allyship

🌈 Pride Allyship: Fostering Inclusion and Support 🌈 As we celebrate Pride Month this June, let’s recognise the vital role allies play in supporting the LGBTQIA+ community. Effective allyship goes beyond mere labels; it’s about meaningful actions. Here are three key components to be a good ally: Acceptance: Embrace diversity. Accept individuals for who they are, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Show empathy and understanding. Humility: Recognise that you don’t know everything. Be open to learning and unlearning. Listen to LGBTQIA+ voices and experiences without assuming you have all the answers. Action: Advocate actively. Speak out against discrimination, support others in sharing their stories, and educate yourself about the invisible barriers faced by your LGBTQIA+ peers. But remember, true allyship extends beyond public spaces. It’s about standing up for the community even when they’re not in the room. Be their voice, challenge stereotypes, and create safe spaces everywhere you go. #PrideAllyship #InclusionMatters #DEI

🌈 **Understanding Allyship in the LGBTIQ+ Community** 🌈 In a recent conversation with Scyne Advisory's ☂ Rainbow Umbrella Network ☂ we highlighted the importance of being an effective Ally within the LGBTIQ+ community. Allyship, to me, is more than just offering support—it's about genuinely listening to others’ experiences and creating spaces where their voices are empowered and heard. Through our Diversity Council membership, we at Scyne have access to a wealth of resources. Recently, they shared an insightful article on "The Impact and Responsibility of Effective Allyship" that I found particularly powerful. I'd love to hear from you—where have you experienced or witnessed impactful Allyship? Let's keep this important conversation going. 🔗 *The Impact and Responsibility of Effective Allyship*(https://lnkd.in/gTNG6tX8) #Allyship #DiversityAndInclusion #LGBTIQ+ #Empowerment #ScyneAdvisory

June is Pride month, a time to celebrate diversity and foster an environment of inclusivity and respect. Celebrating diversity and inclusion is essential, especially in the workplace. For #TrainingTuesday we are highlighting trainings that focus on promoting inclusivity. These trainings cover a wide range of topics, from LGBTQ+ awareness to cultural competency and unconscious bias. The LGBTQ+ population faces disproportionate health risks. Stigma, discrimination, and a general lack of understanding of specific needs of the LGBTQ+ population reduces access to safe healthcare and services. Learn about health disparities faced by the LGBTQ+ population and the health consequences of ongoing stigma and discrimination. Familiarize yourself with current terms and practice using language appropriately to contribute to improving health equity for the LGBTQ+ population It's important that we continue to support and elevate each other not just this month, but throughout the year. Let's strive to create a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. By fostering an inclusive environment, we can together build a stronger, more unified team that thrives on our collective diversity. Start learning today! https://buff.ly/45nrbuV

As an emergency preparedness communications network, we honor Pride Month by highlighting emergencies and disasters' disproportionate impact on those who identify as LGBTQ+. In 2022, we hosted a two-part webinar series addressing these critical issues. The 1st webinar discussed ways that LGBTQ+ community members can better prepare for disasters, focusing on steps to take now and actions to consider if impacted. View the Webinar here 👉 bit.ly/LGBTQ1Webinar The 2nd webinar explored how emergency planners, service providers, and disaster responders can ensure their response efforts inclusively address the needs of the LGBTQ+ community.
