Plugging occurs when drilling through sticky clay like material. Material sticks to the drill bit; this can be exaggerated by adding fluids to the drill hole. Because cuttings stick to the spaces between bit teeth, the penetration depth is reduced. Penetration Rate will not respond to rotary RPM increases or Weight On Bit (WOB), this may result in pulling a Drilling Bit before it is due to be replaced. Nozzles will get partially blocked and reducer flow reducing life of bit. During drilling with roller-cone bits, individual cones may stop rotating, leading to excessive drag and bit-tooth wear. Pre-splitting involves drilling closely spaced holes along the desired final wall line, lightly charging, and detonating them before the main blast to create a controlled fracture plane. This technique ensures a clean and controlled cut, reducing overbreak, enhancing wall stability, and minimizing ground vibrations. But this is not true to all situations. 1,800psi pressure test on our Expandable Drill Collar. There are three aspects about this drill collar that are innovative: 1.      No grout was needed to set this standpipe 2.      No resin was needed to set this standpipe 3.      First expandable standpipe set in Potash With the help of REI drilling, IPI was able to successfully set this standpipe in a Potash formation and pressure test to over 1,800psi with no face leak or pipe movement during the test. This is important as there was no downtime waiting for grout to cure. Once at setting depth, expansion time for two separate sets is less than an hour.
