For the Place Matters Project with Parks Foundation Calgary, our mission was simple - to engage, empower, and listen to the community of North Calgary. Through a series of enriching activities, we gathered insights, dreams, and ideas that are now the guiding lights of this project. Here's a glimpse of our journey: - Values and Needs Event: Last October, we had the privilege of hosting an event with ~275 amazing attendees, who shared their thoughts on the values and needs associated with outdoor public spaces. - Subject Matter Expert Interviews: From March to April 2023, we had in-depth interviews with 13 subject matter experts, delving into the art of developing and activating outdoor public spaces. - Capital Projects Survey: Between March and April this year, an online survey was opened, and we received valuable input from 25 community organizations. Their insights helped shape an initial list of projects for North Calgary communities. - Prioritization Event: This June, we gathered once more, with 250 community members, to discuss their priorities and preferences for outdoor public space projects in North Calgary.
