🚿 Ever wondered why grout can be a headache in your shower? Calvin breaks it down: "Grout is like public enemy number 1 when it comes to tile." Many of us battle the relentless mold and mildew cycle, scrubbing away only to see it return. But why? Turns out, it's often a deeper issue—poor installation and outdated materials. Back in the day, standard drywall was used behind tiles, which is a no-go in wet zones. ⚒ Calvin's solution? Cement board and waterproofing. This dynamic duo forms a fortress against moisture, tackling the root cause of those stubborn shower woes. It's all about keeping what's underneath dry, so mold won't have a chance to show up at all. Who knew tile talk could be this intriguing? ✨ #HomeRenovation #remodelingtips #VKBkitchenandbath #grout #homeimprovement #renovation #ExpertAdvice #construction #reelsviral #bathroommakeover #groutcleaning #grouting #groutcleaner #groutsealing #groutrepair #groutcolor #tile #tilestyle #tiles #tiledesign #tilework #tileinstallation #tilefloor #tileart #tilersofinstagram #tilesetter #tilers #tilesworks

Let's talk about... Stone Look Flake system I come across various resin flooring installations where I wonder if there are elements I would do differently. Below is a photo of a garage completed using a "Stone Look" flake floor. This is a modern flake blend that can look very impressive compared to the old 1/4" (6mm) flake. For those not familiar with the system, the flake is a blend of flake sizes from dust up to 1/4" (6mm). Although it is generally applied like a flake floor, it does pay to seek knowledge first before attempting. What do you see in the photo? What would you do differently? What are your tips for getting the best result? Take care and keep smiling ResinJack #epoxyflooring #resinjack #realworldepoxies #concretecoatings #resinflooringinternational

Corners and edges on exterior properties such as these are the first places where you will begin to find hairline cracks in your stucco. These areas are prone to cracking because the hard edges are transition points where stress will be concentrated, and they will typically split first. Our team at Rayco are experts at diagnosing and repairing stucco cracks. Using specialty fillers and paints, we can fill in the cracks and apply a coating to prevent further damage. Better still, this process leaves a nearly invisible finish to give your house that brand-new feel. . . . . . . . . . #RaycoExteriors #exteriordesign #builder #plumbing #dreamhouse #build #carpenter #remodel #closet #kitchenremodel #housegoals #tile #reno #constructionlife #builders #kitchenrenovation #bathroomremodel #granite #bathroomrenovation #renovations #customhome #clientfocused #trust

Tech Talk Tuesday: To sand or not to sand (tile grout)? On a recent project, we installed both floor tile (as a longer term more durable option to the LVP we had installed in most of the units we renovated) as well as wall tile (as a decorative backsplash and wainscoting in community spaces and restrooms). The question of whether we should be using unsanded or sanded grout was raised and whether it should be the same or different for our different applications. For the floor tile (12 x 24), we used sanded grout. And for the wall tile (4 x 12) we used unsanded grout. Here's a great article from our friends at Arizona Tile that summarizes why we did what we did. https://lnkd.in/gXfyc-ff
